Everything happened in a quick flash. Nothing made sense anymore.Not the sounds of bird chipping. Nor the pounding in my heart. Neither the rush of adrenaline I felt in a blink. Nor the commotion I seemed to be hearing up ahead.
Nothing made sense except the stinging feeling of being betrayed. One that comes in the form I would never wish my enemy.
Slowly, I lifted my gaze up ahead. Lucas was lying on the floor. Thick red blood flowing from his head, while Ganalorn fought Maria.
I had no idea when he had walked up to them, or what had happened before all that. But it doesn't matter anymore. The disturbing part of all this was that, it looked as though Maria was going to overpower Ganalorn at any moment. I made my decision then.
