Chapter 6

2293 Words

Ivy 5 years later I swore to myself that day that I would never go back. That there was nothing — absolutely nothing — that could ever make me set foot on Shadow Ridge land again. And yet here I was, stepping off the plane with my heart pounding against my ribs like I was being hunted. What was I supposed to do? Pretend like my father never existed? Let my mother bury him alone? All because I didn't want to face him? It's not as if any of the other pack members would be present at the funeral. Omegas were worthless to them, most of them considering us nothing more than a liability to the pack. Burdens that drag the rest of them down. That's how it has always been. I take a deep breath. It’s fine. I can do this. I can get in and out before anyone even notices I'm here. Easy-peasy.
