His Deranged Mate

"RUN!" He yelled. "My pup! I need a rest!" she said, collapsing on the forest floor. "Queen Luna, please, we must go! The Alpha King is already dead. I must protect you and the princess! We are almost there! I will take her for a while so you can get a break, but they are gaining. We must move!" he yelled. The Queen wrapped her baby tighter in the blanket, looking into her almond-shaped, hazel eyes. Tears were streaming down her face. They heard a loud howl in the distance. "They are close!" the Queen exclaimed. With despair in her eyes and voice, she said, "take my precious pup to the human hospital! She will be safe there." He looked at her in fear and replied, "Your Majesty, with all due respect, it is my job to keep-" before he could finish, the Queen commanded, "Royal Beta! Enough! My husband, my mate, my king, is already dead, and my body and heart are broken. That pup right there is our savior, and we must get her to safety. The human hospital will protect her, and the humans will cover her scent. She will be safe." "What about her 16th birthday? The shift? Amongst humans?" the Beta asked in concern. "I pray to the moon goddess that she makes it to 16 to fulfill her destiny. Now I will lead them away from the way you are headed, but you must go now Jon!" the Queen declared. "Yes, my Queen. It has been an honor serving under you and the King," he sadly replied. She looked down at her beautiful pup. "You will be very powerful one day. I need you to be strong, so you can protect your people when you grow up. Remember, mommy and daddy, love you so much, little princess Juliana. Never forget that!" The Queen choked back her tears as she kissed her forehead and shakily handed her little princess over to the Royal Beta. The sounds of footsteps and large paws pounding the earth were getting closer. "Run!" she yelled as the Beta turned and sprinted off to the left, and she turned and tried to run right. The Beta made it to the hospital. There was snow on the ground as he walked into the sliding front doors. He held her close. "Please come back for us, princess," he whispered, as he laid her in a drop-off crib by the front entrance, and quickly slipped out the exit. He stood there in the shadows and watched for 45 minutes until a young nurse walked by and gasped. "Nurse Jones, Nurse Jones!" the young nurse yelled. An older woman ran over to her. "A baby?" nurse Jones questioned. "Wow, we haven't had a baby dropped off to the safe haven in years," replied Nurse Jones, looking out into the winter night to see if anyone was still around. "Let's get her warm and washed up," she said as she ushered the young nurse holding the baby into the warmth of the hospital.
