Instead of a warm welcome, I was greeted by an overly formal and intimidating HR manager. I was given a huge stack of paperwork and a complex employee handbook that's more about rules and regulations than company culture.
Next, I was led to the CEO's office. My heart almost jumped, but luckily he wasn't there. Instead, I meet the Chief of Staff, a no-nonsense woman named Elena. Elena is my immediate superior and the one who will actually be mentoring me during the probation period. Elena explains that the CEO is too busy to meet me right now and that her job is to make sure nothing and no one ever bothers him until noon.
Now flash to the present; my legs are aching from walking for almost an hour on this stupid tour. The entire casino is huge, and I've been shown around the
