  Sitting in the common room with Carrigan in my lap is the closest thing to peace I've had in a month. Medic, Shamrock, and Timber are in the kitchen with Faylinn because they don't want to risk the longer drive to the hospital or the clinic. Every time Faylinn screams, Carrigan buries her head in my chest and cries. I don't need her to tell me what happened. I saw the marks on my sister. She's screaming from a lot more than that gunshot wound.
