The sun was warm on her shoulders as she knelt in the dirt, fingers tugging gently at weeds in the neat rows of thyme and lavender. The omega assigned to the courtyard garden had smiled when Evandra asked to help, but she could sense the hesitation, the unspoken question: Why would a former Luna lower herself to this?
But Evandra was determined to try everything. Laundry. Kitchens. Garden. Child care. The endless cycle of omega work. She had once thought herself above nothing when she’d been Luna of Pearl—she’d taken pride in moving among her pack, training warriors at dawn and scrubbing pots beside omegas by dusk.
