Mia’s POV The apartment was quiet when I woke. Sunlight peeked through the blinds, falling in stripes across the floor. My roommate wasn’t home, and for a second I felt free—free to move, to think, without hiding anything. But then I noticed Beth curled up on the couch, her face buried in her hands, shoulders shaking. I squeezed my face wondering what’s wrong with her. “Beth.” I called but she’d even answer or maybe she didn’t hear. I stood up, walk to her and knelt beside her, my heart tightening wide th fear. It was unlike her to cry . “Beth? What’s wrong?” I asked softly. She sniffled and looked up, tears streaking her cheeks. “Mia.” Her voice broke into pieces. “He… he broke up with me,” she said, her voice small and trembling.
