We made our way out of the hospital when Sammy Price stood before us. "So, this is the one, huh?" she said, giving me a once over with a glare that, if looks could kill, I would have been six feet under.
"Hi, Mrs. Price," Elisa said in a small voice, and I hated how she shrunk before those people. Her mother did a number on her self-esteem, forcing her around people who forced her into being something she was not.
"Answer me, Elisa. Is this the man you changed Noah for?" she said, and I sighed. Elisa held my hand and squeezed. She had been on the verge of having a stress attack earlier, and this woman was adding fuel to the fire.
"Why don't you ask Noah what happened? He cheated on her. That is the reason Elisa broke up the engagement... I am just a by-product of fate...
