"I just returned, and I've already picked up the statue," Kael replied with a grin, his piercing blue eyes sparkling in the sunlight.
My heart fluttered at the sight of him, but I couldn't let myself be distracted. "Okay. So you and Dereck have already gotten the statue. That doesn't answer my question. What are you doing here?" I asked, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible.
"I need to take the statue back to the pack," Kael said, his voice serious. "The statue that Dereck took is not any ordinary statue."
I frowned, entirely understanding what he meant. "I think I already get that the statue is anything but ordinary. I mean, it's what has lured the she-wolf to Dereck, I guess."
