“Axel, can you sit still for five minutes?” Chase said, pacing my apartment like he owned the place.
“I am sitting still,” I muttered, tapping my fingers against the armrest of the couch.
Chase stopped, looked at me, and sighed. “You’re bouncing your leg like you’re about to explode.”
“I’m fine,” I said.
“You’re not fine,” he replied. “You haven’t been fine for weeks.”
I leaned back, trying to ignore him. “I’ve got a lot on my mind.”
He crossed his arms. “You mean Maya.”
My jaw tightened. “I don’t want to talk about her.”
“Yeah, well, maybe you should,” Chase said. “You’re walking around like a ticking bomb, man. You either talk or implode.”
