Annoyance
(Axel’s POV)
My phone buzzed nonstop until I finally answered it.
“Axel!” Peyton’s voice shrieked through the line. “You have to come to the hospital—now!”
My stomach clenched. “What happened?”
“I’m hurt,” she sobbed dramatically. “It’s bad, Axel. Please, just hurry.”
I didn’t think twice. As much as Peyton drove me insane, she was still… my friend, in a way. My responsibility. I grabbed my keys and left the penthouse.
When I reached the hospital, the nurses pointed me to her room. I pushed the door open and froze.
Peyton was sitting on the bed with a perfectly applied layer of lip gloss, her leg propped up on a pillow, surrounded by three doctors who looked like they were seconds from losing their patience.
