(Maya’s POV)
When my phone rang that morning, I almost ignored it. I had learned the hard way that good news rarely started with an unknown number. But curiosity got the better of me.
“Hello?” I answered cautiously.
“Dr. Sinclair,” a polite female voice said. “I’m calling from the university. We wanted to inform you that the suspension placed on your position has been lifted. You are welcome to return to work immediately.”
I blinked, completely thrown off. “I’m sorry… what?”
“The board met earlier this week,” she continued. “There have been several changes in management, including a new Dean. We’d like you to come in today to meet with him and the senior team.”
“The Dean… Poilievre?” I asked, unable to keep the edge out of my voice.
