Shattered Calm
(Maya’s POV)
The pounding on the door jolted me awake.
“Maya! Open the door right now!”
Amber’s voice. Sharp, panicked.
I sat up, still half asleep. “Amber?”
“Maya!” she yelled again.
I stumbled to my feet and pulled the door open. “What’s wrong?”
Amber stormed in, phone clutched in her hand, eyes wide. “You need to sit down.”
“Amber, what is going on?”
“Sit!” she said firmly, guiding me toward the bed.
I blinked at her, confused and still groggy. “You’re scaring me.”
“Good,” she said, pacing. “Because what I’m about to show you is bad. Really bad.”
“Amber, please, just tell me.”
She hesitated for half a second, then handed me her phone.
