Amira was at the airport, more serene than she had been in some time. She looked at the woman in front of her in line for registering the luggage with something akin to admiration. Indeed, the woman was trying to keep what looked like her son in check while pushing a baby stroller. All the while, she dragged a suitcase around. “Do you need help?” Amira couldn’t help but offer. She saw herself in the struggling woman somehow, and could only want to give her a hand. “Oh, if it’s not too much to ask,” came the woman’s sweet answer. “No worries,” Amira smiled at her. “I’m the one who offered.” They made small talk, and she learned that the woman had actually come on a vacation with her boyfriend - who was nowhere in sight - and her two kids.
