My dad was kind enough to take us back to my apartment after we left the hospital. He bought us some fast food burgers and fries and then dropped us off at the steps that lead up to the apartment. He made sure to point out that the bike and my new car were both parked in their assigned spots before he pulled away and left us at our home. I nod to Nick as we both get ready to climb the stairs to the apartment’s floor. I know that it is going to be a long night and an even longer five days together, but I also know that we are going to make it out of this in one piece.
