What is this? A joke? Annie's little brother greets me with those words. I force a smile and walk towards my mother, who is chatting with Aunt Tanya.
"Mom... can someone please explain what's going on?" My patience is wearing thin. Mom breaks away from my aunt and approaches me.
"It seems you're missing out on one of the best moments of your life. But of course! Since your wife will soon give you a child as well, this baby probably doesn't matter to you. After all, you scorned his mother, so you'll probably scorn her son too." The reproach in her words only confuses me more.
