Lily entered her mother’s house quietly, careful not to make any noise. She tiptoed through the hallway, the familiar scent of home filling her senses. It was a stark contrast to the chaos of the mansion and the night she had endured. As she made her way to the living room, she saw that the lights were dimmed, and the house was silent, save for the soft ticking of the clock on the wall. Her mother’s room was dark, the door slightly ajar. Lily peeked inside and saw her mother sleeping peacefully. A wave of relief washed over her; at least her mother was safe and calm, far from the turmoil that Lily had faced. She closed the door gently, not wanting to disturb her. Exhaustion weighed heavily on her, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to make it to her room without collapsing from the weight
