I sat on the edge of the bed. I was nervously twisting my fingers together. My heart hadn’t stopped pounding since I realized the pendant was gone. That pendant wasn’t just a piece of jewelry, it was protection. It was a gift from the seer herself. And now it was missing.
"Are you sure, James? You didn’t see anything around her neck when you found her?" Rylan’s voice was calm but firm.
"No, Alpha," James replied respectfully. "She was already on the floor when I arrived. I checked her pulse, called the others, but I swear I didn’t touch anything else."
