I wake up in the palace and just stare at West, who is trying his best to smile at me.
“Hey, Boss. Welcome back to world of the living. You scared us there.”
I momentarily close my eyes as everything that happened came back to me. Xael almost killed me, yet I am so conflicted about how I am supposed to feel right now.
“You operated on me?” I ask West instead, and he nods.
I remember bleeding out. The neck is an extremely sensitive part with big blood vessels. One mistake in theater, I would have died. He must have performed some miraculous save for me to be alive. Not to mention having to rely on himself because Storm is away.
