Xael I wake up a day later and find myself connected to machines. “Alpha,” a nurse greets with a forced smile. “Where am I?” “You are in the hospital…” she hesitates. “Your… blood pressure was too high, and you bled a lot.” She is still explaining when everything comes back to me. Xaden, Xena. Oh Lord, it can’t be true. “Xaden,” I mutter, and she casts her eyes. Her reaction is enough to tell me that all that was real. My son is gone, and it is all my fault.
