By the time they reached the lodge, the sky was deep blue, the last traces of daylight fading behind the snow-capped peaks. A crisp chill clung to the air, but it wasn’t the biting cold of danger—it was the kind that whispered of new beginnings. Jasper gasped as he hopped out of Damien’s arms and landed in the thick snow, his boots sinking slightly. His eyes widened with excitement. “Look at all the snow!” he shouted, twirling around as soft flakes fell from the sky. Cora, bundled up in Raven’s arms, let out a small giggle, reaching her tiny hands toward the white fluff. Raven smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of her daughter’s head. Damien set down the last of their bags and smirked. “Let’s get settled in tonight,” he said. “Maybe Raven will have a snowball fight with us tomorrow.”
