"Because I wanted to see you." Kaelan's lips curved into an arc, his gaze focused and deeply affectionate as he looked at me. "And I also wanted to see your family and get their approval."
My cheeks warmed instantly. I instinctively looked away, murmuring, "It's all so sudden. I thought 'another day' meant waiting a few days."
Kaelan smiled, gently squeezing my hand. "I was too impatient, afraid someone else would get to you first."
I quietly mumbled, "There's no one else."
His eyes sparkled with satisfaction at my words. The warmth of his hand around mine sent little shivers up my arm.
Before I could say more, Luna Marianne's voice drifted from the kitchen. "Lunch is ready!"
