At the headquarters of Blackwood Pack, I had just finished an international conference call. The meeting had dragged on for nearly three hours, and my shoulders ached from sitting in the same position.
I picked up my phone and saw that it was almost seven in the evening. Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the city was transforming into a sea of bright lights and towering buildings.
I stood up, stretched my tired body, and dialed a familiar number. A sweet female voice answered, tinged with an imperceptible softness that made my heart skip.
"Kaelan, are you done with work?"
