I was already near the dining room door when I heard Maximus speaking to someone. I couldn’t immediately recognize who was with him, as the woman had her back turned toward me. I didn’t go inside right away; instead, I stopped to the side and listened in secret.
“Be extra careful, Luciana,” Maximus warned sternly. “No one, absolutely no one... must discover your true identity. It won’t be long before he is completely removed from my path. Your position as my secretary is already secured.”
“Yes, Alpha King Maximus,” the woman replied confidently. “They will never find out who I really am.”
