Chapter 64

PHOEBE stares intently on the note her Dad is showing at her. Everything came back crashing at her as she remembers the looks on Sasha's face, when she found out Sasha dead in her bathroom.

Feeling aghast, her body trembles as the memory of Sasha's terrifying face keeps flashing on her mind.

Paulit-ulit na bumabalik sa kaniya ang nakabukas na mata ni Sasha. Ang paraan ng pagtingin nito sa kaniya nang matagpuan niya itong patay sa kaniyang banyo.

She is still in shock at the same time, still feeling frighened. She can't relax herself. She just witnessed her friend's death in her bathroom. She is traumatized because of what she has witnessed.

"Phoebe, it's okay if you don't want to read this. Her death is not your fault," her Dad said that made her instantly shook her head.

"No, I will read it. I'm the last person she's with. I..." Phoebe gulped as she felt a sudden pang of pain. "I need... I need to know why she did it," Phoebe said.

Her Dad nodded his head before giving her the note. Phoebe blows a loud breath as she take the raspy textured paper folded in four.

She looks at it as she remembers her happiest memories with Sasha. Those moments where she would always have a friendly fight with Sasha. Those memories where they will always b***h out to each other.

Nangilid ang luha sa kaniyang mata. Feeling sad and grieving.

"Ang tanga ko. Ni hindi ko man lang napansin na may problema ka," she whispered as her tears started to cascade down to her cheeks.

Remembering what happened, she wants to blame herself. She's the reason why Sasha was kicked out. Sasha relies only to their sisterhood. Pakiramdam niya ay kasalanan niya na nawalan ito ng mga kakampi.

Phoebe inhales before blowing it all out as she opens the paper and read Sasha's suicide note.

Dear Phoebe,

I'm sorry but I really can't go with you. I've been dealing what happened to me and I really can't report it. What happened is killing me but I'm more scared of facing what Larry's cult can do. Their cult will kill me. I've seen them kill one person when Larry kidnapped me. They collected the dead person's blood before pouring it all to me after using my body.

I am trying to be strong, Phoebe. I tried but I'm sorry. I just can't face them again. I can't see them making me remember horrible things they did to me. I can't face those people who used my body, making me pregnant.

Forgive me, for I have done a sin. I just want to end this. I just want to be free of everything.

Hindi na napansin ni Phoebe ang pagkabasa ng kaniyang mukha. She has been crying and what she read seems to made her cry more.

Nasapo ni Phoebe ang kaniyang mukha habang patuloy na umaagos sa kaniyang mukha ang kaniyang mga luha.

So stupid of you, Sasha. She said in the back of her mind as she continues to sob. Acted like no one cares about you. So stupid.

"Just like what I said, Phoebe. Don't blame yourself because of what happened to your friend. It's not your fault that your friend ended her life," Phoebe's Dad said thoughtfully.

Phoebe shook her head, crying a river. Her lips tremble and with a shaky voice, she spoke. "I-It's me. It's because of me... s-she died! I insisted on reporting what happened. I thought I could helped her. I thought could lessen her pain."

Nanatiling tahimik ang Dad niya habang nakatingin sa kaniya na patuloy pa rin ang pag-iyak.

"She's my friend, Dad! She is pregnant. She was raped weeks ago. I did not know it until she told me what happened! I was about to tell you about it, Dad! I want to help her. But I never thought that she will commit suicide! I thought she just wanted to pee but she..." Nasapo na lang ni Phoebe ang kaniyang mukha kapagkuwan ay patuloy na umiyak.

She's sad and grieving but she was also feeling irritated. "She's so stupid! She doesn't have to kill herself if she is really scared. I know we can protect her, Dad. I just know we could helped her but she is..."

Because of what happened, her life will never go back to normal. She will always remember Sasha's death in her bathroom. Feeling creeped and scared, seeing Sasha in her bathroom floor, it makes her want to run away.

"Mr. Rhoades?"

A deep baritone voice made her look up. She saw three man standing tall, wearing long coats paired with slacks and black glasses. They all look serious and intimidating.

"How's the investigation, Mr. Logan?" her Dad asked.

Nanatiling tahimik si Phoebe habang pinapakinggan ang Dad niya na kausap ang mga personal investigator nito.

Napaangat ng tingin sa kaniyang Stepsister si Phoebe. Halata ang lungkot na nakaguhit sa mukha nito habang nakatingin sa kaniya.

She looks away. Feeling sad too. Now that she have realizes what happened. She may have been too harsh with her sweet Stepsister.

Kaya naman talagang dumidistansiya siya. Kahit pa nasasaktan na rin siya dahil sa ginagawa niya. Kahit pa laging pakiramdam niya ay pinipiga ang puso niya dahil sa hindi niya pagpansin sa Stepsister niya. She wants to stay away.

Gusto niyang mapatunayan at aminin ng Dad niya na mali ito. Gusto niyang makita na naiintindihan na nito ang gusto niyang iparating.

She wants to see her Dad realizing how bad he is being their Dad. How he only cares for the money in their business and their reputation as a Rhoades.

"What do you want? Don't you have school works to do?" she said coldly.

Aliyah's head instantly lowers as if shrinking. She hunches over as she choke down a sob.

"I-I'm worried about you, Ate Phoebe. I saw you passed out. I followed you after going to Dad's study. I thought I'm..." Hindi na natuloy ni Aliyah ang gusto niyang sabihin.
