Chapter 19

"So..." Kellan suddenly said after teleporting back in front of the Rhoades' mansion.

"What?" Titus asked as he sensed Lamia's dark power surrounding the mansion.

The day seems not good. There seems bad weather coming up tonight as strong winds and little droplets started touched Titus' skin, slowly cascading down to his pale skin.

"What's the plan?"

Napabuntong-hininga si Titus pagkatapos ay tumingin kay Kellan na kasalukuyang pinapanood ang langit na dumidilim.

"Are you sure that you're going to help me? I mean, yes. You brought me to a Nephilim to borrow his mother's angel blade but..." Titus sighed.

He's still having trouble trusting Kellan on his secrets. Hindi siya sanay na may kasama siyang gumagawa ng mga bagay-bagay para lang kay Phoebe na isang batang mortal.

Hindi niya alam kung anong mangyayari sa oras na malaman ng lahat na gumagawa siya, silang dalawa ni Kellan ng kasalanan para sa isang mortal na dapat ay hindi nila nililigtas.

Phoebe Rhoades is not one of their jobs to save. Even if she's a little damsel in distress.

"Why are you helping me? Why are you doing this? Do you need anything? Aren't you going to blackmail me with this?"

Natawa si Kellan kasabay ng biglang pagbuhos ng malalaking patak ng ulan at pagkidlat. "Dude." Kellan chuckled.

"I just want to be a friend with you, that's all. Case closed. I'm not going to blackmail you or anything, geez. Ganiyan ba talaga ang tingin mo sa akin?" Natatawa nitong turan habang nakahawak sa sentido nito na aakalain mong problemado.

Titus' brows furrowed while looking at Kellan."Of course, you're sent by the division's chief to spy me, yes?" Titus said with thick sarcasm on his tone.

Kellan laughs again. "Bud, I'm done with our laws. I don't care about my past life anyway. I'm gonna live my life just like how mortals do it," Kellan said that made him stop.

Suddenly realizing what he has been doing. Damn.

He suddenly remembered what happened. All of the things that just happened. All of the risks he takes, not minding his job as a grim reaper who is the only purpose in the mortal world is to reap souls and helped to delivered them in the Underworld.

Napatingin siya kay Kellan habang naaalala ang pinag-usapan nila noong huli silang magkita.

"Stop saying that they are filthy, Titus. You know that some of them are not." It's what Kellan asked to him when he said that mortals are filthy. Now he wonders...

"Did you somehow met a mortal who's not like a filthy mortal like I just said?"

Napatitig naman sa kaniya si Kellan. He looks like he's fighting his self if he will answer Titus' question honestly or not but in the end, he sighed in defeat.

"Well..." Kellan started. "I did meet someone. Just like you. She's a girl. A different kind of mortal woman. Just like how you define this mortal kid Lamia held captive."

Titus' jaw went slacked while staring at Kellan who looks like also remembering the mortal he's into. He can't believe he also met someone who's in a deep s**t just like him.

"Damn, dude. Don't look at me like that. I know, I know." Napatingin ito sa mansion ng mga Rhoades.

"Somehow, I understand your situation. This, being concern and looking so desperate to save a mortal that shouldn't be saved because we are grim reapers." Kellan chuckled before tapping Titus' shoulder.

"Man, we are just the same. Our only difference is that, that woman I've met is gone. She died so I helped to deliver her to the underworld."

"How did you met her? What did she do to deserve being in Hades' realm?" Titus asked, curiosity visible in his tone.

"Well, ahm..." Kellan chuckled nervously. "I meet her in a nightclub where she was working as a dancer. She happens to accidentally think that I'm just a customer. You know, like what mortal men do, to get laid and drunk."

Titus cringed. Picking up what Kellan wanted to say to him. "Don't tell me you sleep with her?"

Kellan shrugged, a grin curved is in his face. "Then I won't tell you, bud. But you know, what we did that night. I suddenly felt something. I felt my heart beating damn fast and I will not deny it, because you know." Kellan sighed.

"After that night, I know that I actually started living. I mean, I am a grim reaper. My only purpose in this life is to reap and harvest souls but I felt like I've grown tired with it. And mortals called it boring. No thrill at all."

Titus nodded his head. He totally understands what Kellan wanted to tell him. And just like what Kellan has felt, it happened to him.

He suddenly has a feeling he can't even name. And even if Kellan made him understand, he's in denial. He's still a grim reaper.

He only wants Phoebe to be safe. That's what he only wants right now.

IT was midnight when Titus decided to enter the mansion with Kellan.

Darkness envelops the whole mansion as they both entered the living room. Titus and Kellan nodded before the both of them took each side of the double staircase.

Titus stays alerted as he holds firmly the silver blade in his right hand. Kellan gripped his scythe's snath while taking steps up the right staircase.

The both of them stopped as they heard Lamia's devilish laugh fading in the hallway when they both reached the second floor.

They both know that Lamia used old dark magic to make the place under her spell. Covering the place with dark corridors and drops of blood splattered in each corner of the mansion.

"So..."

They continued walking to a dark hallway as they heard Lamia's slutty chuckle.

"Grim reaper, you're back..." Lamia said, her voice became deeper and louder, just like a demon.

Titus and Kellan did not speak. As they know what Lamia can do. Titus can never forget what he has dreamed as he was under Lamia's spell hours ago.

It was indeed hot and totally new for him as he was making love with a woman. He never felt turn on and lustful to a woman. Only to the woman that appeared in his daydream. A woman he can't even remember the face.

"Hmm... Now, everything is getting interesting. I thought you'll never come back again, grim reaper. I admit you surprised me. Just because of this mortal child? Tsk, tsk."

They both became wary as they heard Lamia hissed like a snake.
