CHAPTER 7

THEO WAS IN DEEP THOUGHT WHILE HE WAS quenching his thirst for blood in the living room when the owner of the house, Cassiel, entered. Cassiel sighed, seeing Theo in a bothered state. “Hey, did you steal blood from the blood bank?” Cassiel asked. Theo frowned and looked at Cassiel. “How did you know that this was human blood? You’re not a vampire or a werewolf.” Cassiel rolled his eyes, unbothered by Theo’s question. “It’s not important. Where did you get that blood? I didn’t put any human blood in the storage.” Theo smiled mysteriously. “Secret.” Cassiel shook his head and sat on the sofa. “You want coffee?” Theo asked. “Thank you,” Cassiel responded. And his brow raised when he noticed Theo’s attire. He was dressed in dark, classic attire. Maybe Theo went to the Celestial Continent before coming into his house. After a few minutes, Theo went back to the living room and placed a mug of coffee on the coffee table. Cassiel took the steaming mug of coffee and took a sip. He sighed after tasting the coffee made by the Vampire King. “You know, for someone who has seen the rise and fall of empires… you’re still terrible at making coffee.” Theo sips his glass of crimson liquid and shrugs his shoulders, unbothered by how Cassiel judges the coffee he made. He knew it wasn’t perfect, but he wanted to thank him for taking him in. Though he can afford to rent a house or an expensive suite, it was different when a friend was worrying about you. Cassiel looked at the crimson liquid in Theo’s glass. “No wonder you are not good at making coffee.” Theo chuckled. “I make blood cocktails, not espresso, Cassiel,” he said, tilting the glass thoughtfully. Cassiel leaned on the sofa. “Tell me, what’s bothering you?” Theo looked at Cassiel. “Don’t look at me like that, Your Majesty. I can feel it, you are bothered by something. You can tell me.” Theo placed the glass on the coffee table. Aside from his friends on the Celestial Continent, Cassiel was the person who was by his side now. And Cassiel was a good friend to him. “She remembered what had happened. This was the first time that had happened to me.” Cassiel frowned, trying to understand what Theo had said. “Pardon?” “As you know, the Celestials who have Royal Blood can erase someone’s memory.” “And?” “Artemis remembered what happened,” Theo said, clenching his fist. Cassiel grabbed the folder from his side and read it while explaining Theo’s case. “Theo, it’s not because of your power but because of your bond. You and Artemis are soulmates. You’ve been connected since you were born. Your power won’t work on her. So, I suggest you restrain yourself from using your power in front of her. Be careful next time.” “I’m done.” “You’re really done,” said Cassiel while signing the papers. “What should I do?” Theo lay down on the sofa. Cassiel shakes his head. “It’s better if you confess.” Theo’s eyes widened, and he looked at Cassiel. “I can’t confess to her directly that I am a vampire. That might scare her.” Cassiel sighed and said, “I don’t know. Ezequiel became my problem at first with his love life, and now, it’s your time.” He closed the folder and looked at Theo. “You know what, since you have already shown some of your abilities to your mate, you better show her that you are not ordinary, so she won’t be shocked when you tell her the truth. That’s the best advice I can give you, Your Majesty.” Theo closed his eyes. “Then I guess I will slowly show her my identity.” Cassiel nodded and thumbs-up. “That’s a good choice,” he said, and finished the coffee Theo made for him. “Though it tastes bland, thanks.” Theo looked at Cassiel flatly. “You don’t have to say in front of my face that my coffee was bland.” Cassiel chuckled. “By the way, go to the Milktea Shop tomorrow. I have something important to do.” “Important?” Theo frowned. “Yeah, Ezequiel had a company here in the human race. The company has a conference meeting tomorrow, and I have to attend. My presence was needed.” “Are you going to attend as Cassiel or as Anya?” Cassiel smiled. “Of course, as Ezequiel.” “You can copy Ezequiel’s face?” Theo asked in surprise. “What kind of power do you have?” “Think of it.” Theo rolled his eyes. Suddenly, a letter appeared on the center table. The Vampire King got up and picked up the letter, and unfolded it. ‘Your Majesty, Prince Thomas went to the Polar City.’ Theo was alarmed because he knew that under the Polar City of the Northern Region, a powerful person was sealed there. And it’s been more than one thousand years. The story of that person sealed under the Polar City has been passed down from generation to generation. And as the Vampire King, it was his responsibility to protect the Northern Region from that person. Cassiel looked at Theo with a serious expression on his face. “Be careful, the seal was about to break. The seal that the Ancient Vampire King put on that man was about to come to an end.” “So, will the northern region be in chaos?” Theo asked, hoping it wouldn't happen. “I hope not, Theo,” said Cassiel. Because in case it happens, the story of the past will unfold again. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Theo asked. Cassiel shakes his head. “Nothing. I was just reminiscing about the past. You looked exactly like him.” Theo frowned. “Who?” “Nothing,” Cassiel sighed. It’s better if Theo didn’t know about it. It will only mess up his mind. A thought came into Theo’s mind as he continued to sip the crimson liquid in his glass. “Is he connected to the Dark Lord?” “You mean that person?” “Yes.” “I think yes,” Cassiel answered. After all, they were all ancient. And he knew that person was sealed under the Polar City. He knew him very well. Everything that was happening on the Celestial Continent, he knew it. He was the eyes of the Celestial Continent. And nothing can hide from him. “But you don’t have to worry, it will take years before the Dark Lord can unbreak the seal the Celestial Lord had put on the underworld.” Theo’s forehead furrowed. “Why do I feel like you know everything that was happening?” Cassiel only smiled. He stood and left Theo in the living room. Theo followed Cassiel with his gaze. He’s not really an ordinary person. Later, Theo fell asleep on the sofa and dreamed. Theo finds himself in a misty forest, where soft silver fog dances among the ancient trees. He was walking on the forest path. All he could hear was the birds chirping from afar. He could also hear the rustling of leaves. A woman in a flowing white dress walks on the forest floor. Her face is gentle and glowing—Artemis. Her brown eyes were the same as Artemis's. “Artemis?” Theo said softly, almost whispering. Artemis didn’t speak. She glances at him, full of longing and grief. She reaches out her hand. The wind swirls around them like a breath of fate. “Who are you?” Theo asked. He didn’t know what was happening to him, but he found himself walking towards the woman who looked like Artemis. “I am Artemis,” the woman said in a gentle voice. Theo didn’t move when the woman touched his cheek —cold meeting colder—and suddenly, her eyes shimmered in tears as her eyes flashed in gold. “You will find me, Valerius.” “I am not Valerius,” Theo said. The woman smiled. “You are him.” Thunder cracks from the sky, and the forest begins to fade into darkness. And the woman slips from Theo’s fingers like smoke. Theo woke up. Gasping. Eyes wide. He was breathless. He cupped his chest where his heart was located. Theo could feel that something was missing. Outside the window, a full moon hung high in the sky. Theo closed his eyes. “Who was she? Why does she look exactly like Artemis?” Because of that dream, Theo was in deep thoughts for a few days.
