MY HEART STARTED to pick up a frantic rhythm, my breath was suddenly cut short, and my palms grew moist as I gawked at the man standing inside the room. He was looking right at me and I felt the air flew out of my lungs. In a dark suit, shirt and a discarded tie, he looked wild, unshaven and bleary-eyed.
