“How did it go with the woman you dated the other night?” I inquired about the woman I had seen at both the restaurant and the bar. Enrique looked at me with strained eyes as if he didn't understand a word I said.
“Tyler, what are you talking about?” He responded with a new inquiry, which perplexed me even more.
“Wasn't it last night that you were flirting with her?”
“Did you see us?” Rather than responding to my question about his flirting with someone, he inquired if I had seen him!
I slapped his arm because I was enraged by his reply. While I needed him more than anything else in the world, I couldn't allow myself to be treated as an afterthought. I deserved more than to be a choice. So I said truthfully, "Yes, I saw you, and I saw everything."
