"Saan naman tayo ngayon, boss?" tanong ko kay Matthew habang nagmamaneho. Nakalabas na kami ngayon sa Villa Verde Subdivision.
"Gusto ko sanang bisitahin si Faye," mahinang sagot niya na ikinalingon ko sa kanya.
I saw the sadness in his eyes as he stared out the window.
"I want to see her and talk to her," he added. "But it’s impossible."
"That’s not a good idea," I replied. "If you go there directly, you’ll get caught right away. You could be interrogated by the police, blocked by the hospital, or accused of trying to interfere with the investigation—"
"I know, I know," he cut in. "Baka lang kasi kapag narinig niya ang boses ko, gumising kaagad siya... Who knows? Maybe I’m the one she’s waiting for."
Natahimik naman ako.
