2070 Words
"Help! Help!" Grey shouted when they arrived at the hospital, asking for help while carrying his wife in his arms. Three nurses came to help him, and they immediately put Katlyn on the portable bed to check up on her. "Sir, what happened to her?" asked the male doctor, and put a stethoscope on Katlyn to check if she is still alive. "She was hit by a car," Grey answered panting while looking out for his wife. "What's your relationship to the patient?" the doctor queried more. "She's my wife. Please, save her. Please," Grey begged that he keeps covering his mouth, and touches the back of his head because of anxiety. "We will do everything to save her. Please, step aside," the doctor replied, and two nurses assisted him to put a first aid on her. "Come, son, let's wait outside," Raymond said, and he pulled his son to the waiting area because he can sense the agitation of his son due to what happened to his wife. "No, Dad, I'll stay here but, you can sit there outside," Grey stated worriedly. "Let the medical team take care of her. Don't worry I already called our doctor to check up on her too. Let's go outside and you need to breathe," Raymond recited, and he pulled his son's arm to follow him. Grey did not go opposite anymore and just let his Dad pull him to the waiting area, and they both sat down when his phone make a sound because he has a message. He read the message and the security sent a video and a picture of the car that bumped into his wife. 'That' s the video and picture, Sir, of the incident.' However, Raymond wondered about his son's reaction so, he peeked at what he is looking at and read it too. "Was that the car that bumped into Katlyn?" he questioned. "Yes, and I think I know the car," Grey mentioned while thinking and remembering where he saw that already. "What do you mean? Was it your enemy's car?" Raymond queried again. But Grey did not answer anymore, and just thought and recalled everything where he could see that car. He bit his lower lip when he had a suspicious. He, then, contacted his friend who knows a lot about cars and tracking. -'Bro, I need you to track this car. Contact me abruptly when you have the lead.' And he sent the text, and then turned off his phone while trying to figure out who is the real owner of that car. "Do you need my help?" Raymond asked his son to know if he could help him. "No need, Dad, I already asked for help," Grey responded, and washed his face with his bare hands because of the anxiety that keeps building in his head. Raymond anyways nodded because he knows that his son will never need his help even though he has power and in one just call from him, they could quickly find who did it to Katlyn. "You should have said to her already why you don't want to divorce her. She's important to you, right? You should hold on to her, especially now that you have her," he said out of nowhere. Grey opened his eyes, and turned to his Dad to give him a sullen look. "I don't think you have the right to tell me that now if you're the one who did not do what you should have done a long time ago," he said in deadpan. "I know, son, that you are still blaming me for why your Mom died--" Raymond mentioned but, he was cut off by his sentence when his son speak again. "I'm glad, and you still know that," Grey seriously commented, and he looked away from him. "But we are talking about your wife here, son. I don't want you to be like me. She's with you right now and I think it's best that you tell her now, how much you care for her instead of letting her go. You can make your mistakes right, son," Raymond reminded him and at the same time, recalled the past that he regretted multiple times. "Who says I'm letting her go?" Grey sarcastically asked, and sharply looked at his father again. "I'm not like you, and I don't want to do the same mistake you've done," he blurted out. Raymond smiled even though his words struck his heart, like a knife that poked his heart. "Tell me, son, do you like her?" he questioned all of a sudden after a minute of silence between them. But Grey did not respond and just keeps his mouth shut because he doesn't like his father to know what he feels inside him. Whilst, Raymond just stared at his son as he is waiting for his answer, and when he realized that his son will not give him a direct answer, he smiled again. "I know I've never been a good father to you and if I could just turn back the time, I would do so so, we could spend more time with each other, and I would know what you really feel," Raymond emotionally mentioned, and saddened. "Would you stop being dramatic and keep recalling the past that will never change? You can never change the past, okay? So, would you stop?" Grey irritatingly spoke, and glared at him. Raymond zipped his mouth because he can tell that his son is pissed off at him, and he just sighed because their father-and-son relationship will never go back to the way it used to be. Grey, then, stood up and approached the doctor who went outside to talk to him. "How is she, doctor? Is she alright now?" Grey worriedly asked. "She's stable now, but for further evaluation, we need to bring her to the CT scan to see if she has a blood clot in her head since she loses a lot of blood in her head, and also an x-ray to see if she has broken bones. After that, she needs to be admitted for more evaluation to give the right medication for her," the doctor recommended straightforwardly. "Okay, go ahead," Grey briefly answered, and he go inside to accompany his wife. Thereafter the CT scan and x-ray, Katlyn was admitted to the VVIP room because of Grey's influence. Throughout the hours, he did not leave his wife and just stay close to her even though he has a lot of appointments today. He canceled it all because of what happened to his wife, and also because he knows he won't be able to focus on his work when he keeps thinking about her, while his father already left to take a rest. Then, a text from his friend came so, he read it. -'Bro, this is the location of the car now. Do you know that place?' He clenched his jaw when his suspicions were proven when all of a sudden someone knocked on the door so, he stood and peeped into the hole to see who it is even though he has a lot of bodyguards outside to secure their safety. And seeing the family doctor, he opened the door and welcomed him. "Good evening to you, Mr. Victor," the old man greeted, and get inside. "Same to you too, Dr. Faray," Grey greeted back and then, closed the door behind him. "I will not go around the bush anymore, Mr. Victor, because I know you hate that. Well, we have good news and bad news. The good news is she has no broken bones in her body. Henceforth...the bad news is...to tell you honestly, your wife has a hematoma in her head where our memories are restored. Meaning, she temporarily lost her memories. So, when she woke up don't be surprised if she could not remember anything to you or to anyone, or any event that happened before in particular," Dr. Faray explained furtherly. "Okay. And when will she restore her memories? And when is she going to wake up?" Grey queried while standing tall in front of the doctor. "I don't really know when will she wake up, Mr. Victor. That's what I cannot predict. However, about her memory loss, it might take months for her to recover from it. Please, don't overwhelm her with too much information because it might trigger her head more and may result in permanent loss of memory. Just slow down, okay? Don't trigger her. And one more thing, if she will experience headaches and dizziness, please let me know. Call me immediately because she is not allowed to get stressed or depressed. Okay? Do you have any queries, Mr. Victor?" Dr. Faray replied with advice on how to take care of Katlyn's condition. "None for now. I am...lost for words. But I will contact you if anything happens to her, don't worry. Thank you, Dr. Faray," Grey responded with so much going on in his head. "That's the first," Dr. Faray said with a grin. "Huh? First what?" Grey confusingly asked. "First thank you from you ever since your mother died. I guess she's a good influence on you. By the way, I gotta go. Just call me if you need anything, alright?" Dr. Faray commented without removing the smile on his face. "I will. Bye," Grey replied, and he watches him leave the room and then, he sat down beside his wife. ___ GREY'S I don't know if the incident was a blessing in disguise or what, but now that I have been given another chance to prove myself to you, I would take this opportunity to take care of you. You lost your memory? No problem. Let's create good memories then so, when your memories came back you won't hate me that much because I took good care of you. And you will forget all the bad things I did to you. Now I don't know if I should confront the person behind the incident or not. God, there are a lot of things in my head right now. I don't know what to think anymore. I, then, recalled what she said before she left Dad's house while we were arguing about how I made her life a living hell because I threatened her life and her parent's life and then, forced her to marry me. I know I've been bad, a bully, and an evil to her ever since we met but I am just doing that because... . . Because... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Because I need her. God, I was hurt when she said we're getting divorced. I really cried a while ago even though I know what we have is just a contract. But thinking of her leaving me...I could not bare it. I was...really hurt. I don't understand this feeling I have for her. I just couldn't...describe what this is because this is the first time I've experienced it ever since in my 30 years of existence. It's new and... indescribable. The next day, her parents came to visit and were very concerned about their daughter. They also questioned me about what happened and I told them about the incident, and that I already found out who did it to her. "Really? Who was it? Tell me, who was it?" Mr. Carlson angrily spoke. "I am going out now to confront the person who did it to her so, is it okay if you stay here with her for a moment while I go out? Don't worry my men are outside and I will not take long," I answered without telling him who really did it to their daughter and I don't want them to get involved. But I'm gonna make sure that I will put justice to what happened to my wife. "Go ahead, son," her mother smoothly said, and gave me an assuring smile. I turned around quickly and leave because I felt something that is not right. I felt...pity. I felt...guilt. I felt...loved. Ever since my mother died I never wanted to feel anything but right after her mother smiled at me, a longing for family is kicking inside me. Now, I miss Mom. To be continued...
