ASHER chose to keep his confusion to himself when he didn’t see Minah in their room. She wasn’t downstairs either when he arrived. The silence in their room was almost deafening.
“Minah?” he called out.
He checked the bathroom—empty. The walk-in closet—no sign of her. Even the couch where Minah usually left his change of clothes was bare.
Did she leave?
He wasn’t used to not seeing her immediately when he got home. If she wasn’t in the living room, she was usually in their room. But at that moment, she was nowhere to be found, leaving him with an unsettling feeling of being alone—something he didn’t like at all.
Instead of changing out of his work clothes, he left the task and went to find his mom.
