I waited for Aria to come, but she was late. I wondered if something bad happened to her. So, I pulled out my cell phone from my jeans pocket and dialed her number.
She was breathless when she said “Hello.”
“Where are you? Is everything all right?” I was concerned right off. I looked around, trying to figure out where she was. “Are you okay?”
“Yes, I’m fine! I’m coming. I was just… uh… I’ll tell you when I get there,” she said.
Ten minutes later, I opened the door for her. I drove the car to the diner, as we planned. Then she told me about this demon that was egging her in the forest. She said the demon was invisible and played her.
