Somehow, the atmosphere turned a little awkward. They were silent for a while as they stared at each other.
It was only broken when Corrine grimaced again. He sighed and squeezed her hand.
“Can you bear the pain if you get up? You should eat.”
“Help me up.” She braced herself and grunted as she sat. She slowly breathed out as Erik went to get the food.
Corrine can only use her right hand and she started with the soup. He cut up the meat and vegetables for her so she can easily eat them.
He’s glad that she’s starting to have color on her face again. After the meal, she chose to lean against the headboard. She still winces every now and then.
