She is not in her room. I hurriedly went back to my room to get my phone and called her. She didn’t answer so I dialed her number again, but still there wasn’t any answer. I went outside to ask people I knew if they had seen my mom. Nobody saw her, and the others never knew my mom was here. Where could she be? My heart pumped hard and fast, thinking of the worst that she might be held as a hostage.
I went back to my room and packed my things. My heart jolted when I heard my mom’s laugh outside my room after an hour of being worried and crying.
Then I heard a knock. I ran towards the door. As I opened the door, I saw my mom in a beaming smile together with Ramona. I clung to her tightly in a hug. She hugged me back.
“What happened, honey? Why are you crying?”
