The next morning, my stomach did the twirls again and I ran to the powder room to take out all that I had inside. Marian’s mom heard me. I told myself to relax and breathe.
“Catherine, are you okay in there?”
And I cleaned up and slowly opened the door. I looked at her in a very sick appearance.
“I am better now.”
She held my forehead with her hand, like how my mom would have done.
“I know it’s none of my business, but are you pregnant?”
I slowly raised my sight to look at her and I just nodded.
“Oh my, how?”

“I mean I know you don’t have a boyfriend and of course not married..... but does the father know?”
