CHAPTER 14: The chain contains wolfbane!

1427 Words
"f**k. Damn it" Ysha cursed. She stayed untroubled upon noticing that the wolf that ascended to the balcony was not an Alpha. Since Ysha didn't sense anything unusual, she concluded it was a beta and acknowledged his assurance in her fighting skills. The wolf began its advance towards her, prompting her to attempt a transformation. Despite her intentions to transform her form several times, her body did not react as she expected. Ysha struggled to transform and found herself feeling even weaker. "Ugh! Damn it again." Ysha let out another curse while looking at the chain on her leg, breathing heavily despite being inactive. Ysha thought about whether the chain on her leg hindered her strength from returning quickly. This explains why she is unable to shift into a wolf; the chain binding her leg has wolfsbane in it. That's simply a reflection of her weakness. Ysha's anxiety lessened despite her inability to change, as she discovered that the chain on her leg contained wolfsbane, which would also weaken the wolf if it approached her. However, the wolf ceases to approach her. The wolf growled while backing away. The wolf released the gun it had bitten, and slowly transformed into a human. A male beta. Did it detect the wolfsbane in the chain linked to her, preventing it from getting closer? Perhaps the beta remained at the balcony door, keeping its distance from her. He grabbed the gun and aimed it at her. Ysha shook her head as she met Beta's serious gaze. She felt a strange conviction that she was the one they needed, prompting her to deliberately jump from the high balcony of the king's room. Might they be attempting to discover the whereabouts of the king in his private space, thus leading to the beta's appearance in this area? What options does a beta have when confronted with the king in a one-on-one situation? Ysha pondered several questions as she waited to see what Beta would do next to her. Will he pull the trigger or reconsider and walk away? He would feel relieved if the second scenario she considered took place. But what if he aims at her first before he exits? "No!" Within Ysha's thoughts. “I must remain calm.” She added! Despite his lingering weakness from the chain linked to her and her efforts to alter her form, the wolfsbane had a greater impact on her body. “The story holds true. There is a beautiful Omega that the king is hiding in his private space.” The Beta aimed his gun at her more insistently, as if demanding a response to his words. “The king locked me up, but not in the way you imagine.” Ysha provided this answer as it represents the truth. "Who are you? Who do you work with? Beta ignored her. To Ysha, the beta's actions looked like they were happening in slow motion. He noticed his finger gradually move towards the trigger until he eventually heard a gunshot. Ysha's eyes widened in shock as he realized the delay; he wasn't the one struck by the gun, but rather saw the Beta fall to the floor. She directed her gaze towards the door behind her. The King's Beta fired at the Beta who aimed a gun at her. Beta came closer and grabbed the gun from it. The Lota quickly approached her and helped her rise from the floor due to her weakness. The king's Beta took the lifeless beta out of the balcony. Moments later, the king showed up. It glanced at her briefly before heading directly to Beta, who had been killed by his own Beta. "It is confirmed, your majesty. This is among those who escaped from prison." Ysha overheard the beta talking to the king. She failed to catch the king's words. When the king turned his back from his beta, the beta immediately discarded the lifeless beta over the balcony. The sound of the siren, which resonated across the kingdom, has vanished as well. "Are you all right, Luna?" Lota asked as soon as the king and his beta exited the room. Ysha responded by nodding. She allowed the Lota to examine the injuries she had sustained from multiple strikes to her hands and face. Don't you feel weak? Ysha posed a question to the Lota, leaving them stunned. "Within this chain." At the same moment, Ysha moved her feet to show the chain. "Weakness doesn't concern me, Luna. I won't be affected; it's an easy task to serve you." The Lota with a respectful response. "What's your name?" Ysha asked once more to avoid the silence while waiting for the lota to finish treating her wound. "Call me whatever you want, Luna Ysha." It's a simple and modest answer from the lota. They became silent again, and Lota provided treatment without any discussion. "Luna Ysha, let's head to the salon first. Someone is heading over to repair the damaged window." Wearing thick gloves, the lota removed the chain from her leg. With confidence, the lota took the lead, unaware that she might flee and jump from the balcony. What prevents him from doing it? “If you're thinking about jumping off the balcony, Luna Ysha, it's best not to do it. The other Epsilons gather the bodies of the fugitives at the bottom of that balcony.” The Lota turned to her, as though she had figured out her plans. "Come on, Luna Ysha." The Lota who was directed to go out the door let her walk first. Ysha took another deep breath out. She simply followed the instructions from Lota to go to the salon and wait there until they fixed the damage in the king's room. ….. A meeting was summoned by the king. His Prince cousins, all the ministers, Epsilons. He gathered them due to the turmoil impacting the kingdom. Right within his palace, issues emerged. "A few of the captured individuals are Theta, your majesty." Reports from his beta after the situation in the kingdom has been resolved. Theta's. Newborn wolves. These are the common individuals who are bitten by the Alphas to form their pack. The escaped rogues came back with the theta and stirred up trouble in the palace. Another surprising aspect for him was that despite the palace guard's strictness, they entered easily. “There is a traitor inside the Kingdom.” The king's thunderous proclamation took everyone by surprise. The king rose in fury. In disbelief, bowing and kneeling before him. However, the whispers echoing within the Imperial hall remained inescapable. His Beta lifted his right hand, prompting silence among them. The king regarded each person in turn, from the highest minister to the lowest, with a look of seriousness and deep thought. Epsilons along with others. At long last, he turned his gaze towards his prince cousins, who were seated calmly beside him in their designated chairs. He aimed a discerning stare at them, meticulously observing their behavior to uncover any hidden truths. Despite the fact that they were related to him as cousins, he found it difficult to shake off the nagging suspicion that one of them might be plotting against him. It appears that the only factor driving their treachery is their refusal to acknowledge his rightful place on the throne. A person among them is developing a rationale to argue against accepting their defeat in the throne battle. He turned his gaze to Prince Nasir, who looked back at him with equal seriousness. Nasir stands out as a potential suspect since he was one of his fiercest rivals during their grandfather's training sessions. However, he remained silent. He refrained from naming the suspect. He won't express uncertainty until he has the ability to validate and secure strong evidence. The king expressed a word. “Investigate all the palaces and residences throughout the kingdom's territory.” The king's command held authority as it focused on the Epsilons. The other prime minister already understood how to handle the situation regarding the Epsilons. He turned away after giving the order. He turned his gaze once more to the princes who had recently settled quietly into the chairs. Despite the possibility that his cousins disapproved of his decision to command the ransacking of their palaces, he did not receive any objections or grievances from them. Without any hesitation, he departed from the Imperial hall with his beta and made his way back to his room, where he found his wife marked by a scar from the beta's reckless attack.
