As the king pushed open the door to his royal room, he inhaled deeply, momentarily closing his eyes.
The air still held a faint trace of the Omega's alluring scent, but its intensity had waned. The heat that had once surged his body had receded, allowing him to endure the lingering pheromones.
The loyal lota emerged from the bathroom, bearing a basin of water.
"Your Majesty," the lota greeted respectfully and bowed.
"The Omega's fever has subsided. How shall we proceed?" His beta asked.
“Lock her up, and I will make her pay for her action,” the king replied, his voice laced with anger.
“And her father, Your Majesty?” his beta asked, showing some empathy towards the Omega.
“His fate is irrelevant. I will punish both of them severely for deceiving me, the new king.” With clenched fists, he glared at the Omega lying unconscious on his bed. “I will make her suffer.”
Driven by rage, the king released pheromones that reignited the Omega’s heat.
A faint moan escaped her lips.
“Wake up, Omega,” he demanded, pinching her cheeks to rouse her.
“N-no!” she protested weakly, trying to pull her face from his grip.
"I will sentence your father to death for deceiving me, Omega," the king declared. "How dare he sacrifice you when the eldest Omega is the one who was to be betrothed?"
Fear gripped in Omega's heart as she realized the king had uncovered her secret quickly.
"Please," she pleaded, her voice trembling. "My father is innocent. My father didn't know. He didn't know it was me."
"You expect me to believe that, Omega?" the king questioned, his tone skeptical.
"I'm begging you," Omega cried. "Don't punish my father for something I did. It was my fault. I'm the one who wanted this. It was my desire to become the gift," the omega insisted, her words laced with desperation.
His teeth gritted again as he saw the Omega's deception. His fingers tightened on her cheek before violently releasing her, sending her crashing to the ground.
As she lay there, he raised his hand again, choking her and depriving her of breath.
"Please," she whispered, her eyes nearly closed as she struggled. "I... can't breathe." She gasped for air when he loosened his grip.
Unsatisfied, he slapped her across the face with the back of his hand.
"That's only a taste, Omega," he hissed. "I'll show you the true extent of my cruelty for your betrayal." He backhanded her again, leaving a burning red mark on her soft skin.
Tears streamed down his own face as he watched her fight for breath, his actions weighing heavily on his conscience.
"Beta, any news from the ministers?" The king asked, turning to his aide.
"They await your return in the Imperial Hall, Your Majesty."
"Good."
"However, Your Majesty, the news has reached your grandfather. He waits with the ministers."
The king was troubled by this news. His actions had reached his grandfather, and he had taken Omega away before their marriage.
Although his grandfather was harsh towards omegas, especially younger omegas, he respected eldest omegas. This was particularly true since the Omega he had taken was the Prime Minister's daughter.
"Damn it," he cursed under his breath, turning to Omega with a look of fear. Fear not only for himself but for his entire family due to his deception.
"I will deal with you later, Omega. Don't attempt to flee, for a flick of my finger will end your father's life." With that threat, he left Omega and returned to the Imperial Hall.
…..
The lingering pheromones of Zarim's presence in the imperial hall earlier dissipated, replaced by those of his grandfather, his grandfather's intense gaze followed his every move.
For others, the dominance of his grandfather's pheromones aura might instill fear and submission, but Zarim remained unyielding. His strength and withstand his grandfather's challenge would prove him a worthy successor to the throne.
"Zarim," his grandfather demanded, his voice calm but concealing a tempest of anger, "reports have reached me that you took the Omega. Where is she?" His grandfather asked with a piercing gaze.
Zarim straightened his posture and met his grandfather's eyes. "I took her out of concern, Grandfather. She required medicine during her heat cycle, and I have provided her rest in my quarters."
His words were a slight deviation from the truth. Zarim kept the near-tragic incident from his knowledge, knowing that his father had also been kept in the dark about the Omega's true nature.
Driven by an insatiable curiosity, Zarim yearned to uncover the Omega's true motive for misleading him.
"Grandfather, I had no malicious intent towards her. My actions did not violate any laws, aside from touching her." Despite his reluctance to divulge details before the ministers, he was compelled to do so under his grandfather's unwavering gaze.
"Prime Minister Safar," his grandfather addressed the prime minister.
"Your Majesty," Prime Minister Safar replied, acknowledging his grandfather's presence. With a respectful bow, he faced the king. "Your Majesty, I request permission to visit my daughter." His gaze sought the king's approval.
"Are you doubting me, Prime Minister?" The king's eyes narrowed, his tone challenging.
"I dare not, Your Majesty," replied the Prime Minister with a reverent bow, evading the King's piercing gaze.
"That law applies to our nation, Prime Minister Safar. I have adhered to most of its provisions, save for my actions concerning Omega. However, within the realm of Haiiwa and the Kingdom of Zahara, my word stands as law. I possess the authority to act as I see fit regarding your daughter." The King spoke sarcastically. "I may touch her if I desire, or inflict harm upon her at my discretion."
Prime Minister Safar, his gaze fixed upon the King, could not conceal his unease.
"Express your gratitude, Prime Minister Safar, for I have managed to uphold the law in this realm without resorting to inappropriate actions towards your daughter."
"As a former sovereign, Prime Minister Safar, I bestow upon you my solemn assurance that your daughter shall acquire a title." The King's grandfather, his eyes upon him, indicated that he must wed the Prime Minister's daughter without delay.
"Consider it done, Grandfather. I shall not disappoint you. I will bestow my name upon the Omega." Zarim's response was curt, but his heart held no such intention. The thought of marrying the Prime Minister's daughter, particularly the younger one, filled him with disdain.
"Dismissed." With those words, Zarim dismissed the ministers, leaving only his Beta. His grandfather had already retired to his palace for respite.
Together, Zarim and his Beta returned to his royal quarter, where he imprisoned the Omega. He locked the door, confining her within.
"Reveal your deceit or your family will perish." Zarim's voice was cold and unforgiving as he questioned the Omega. His fingers tightened around her arm, his nails digging into her flesh.
Tears welled in Omega's eyes as she winced from the pain.
In the face of impending danger, the Omega's heartfelt admission, "Ugh! B-because I-I fell in love with you w-when I first saw you," disarmed the aggressor.
For the Omega, this declaration was not merely an expression of emotion but a profound reason to spare their family from a grim fate.
