I couldn’t stop looking around as I am being surrounded by charismatic and tough-looking future alphas. I can feel their power, their alpha energy reverberating all over the place. But among them stands out the most—Prince Blake. His aura is really something. Even those wolves with powerful alpha bloods bow down to him.
“Why are you here?” Hunter asked me as soon as he approached me. His forehead is creased while looking at me from head to toe. “Don’t tell me you’re going to take the alpha test?”
I met his gaze and raised both of my brows. “Can’t I?”
I saw how his eyebrows formed a single line as his eyes narrowed on me. “Are you out of your mind? Why would you even take the test when you can’t even shift to your wolf?”
“Why do you even care?” I responded, forehead wrinkling in annoyance.
“Because you will just embarrass yourself and me,” he quickly replied, looking around. “They will remember how delusional you are, and when news gets out that you’re staying with me, it will also affect my image,” he said in a whisper. “My father sent me here to build connections with other packs, and I will surely have a hard time doing it because of you.”
“Why are you so sure that I will embarrass myself?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him. I didn’t like how he made his words sound to me. “I know you hate me and probably think so low of me, but please, don’t stop me from doing what I want,” I told him, looking around. “I am not stupid to do something embarrassing.”
“Okay, everyone, gather up!”
Our conversation was interrupted when Miss Elise called our attention. Everyone started gathering around her. I can already see the anticipation in their eyes.
“So, today we will conduct one last test, and it’s called the alpha test,” she started, roaming her eyes around. “This is a form of test that will measure your alpha strength and ability,” she added, taking out a small box from her pocket. “To do that, you will be matched against each other and fight ‘til one of you gets knocked off or surrenders.”
She turned around to look at every one. “This box contains numbers—pairs of numbers. Your matching number will be your opponent. So, step forward and pick,” she instructed.
One by one, we approached her to pick our number. And when everyone got their number, Miss Elise then asked us to spread and make a massive circle. “Without further ado, let’s start the test. Anyone who got the number 1, step forward.”
Two men stepped forward and went to the center of the circle. Both were undeniably tall and muscular.
“The rules are simple: knock your opponent off or make them surrender. You can use any method you know just don’t use something that would kill your opponent,” she said, stepping out of the area. “Fight!”
I looked at my number and got fifteen. I wonder who will my opponent be. Well, it doesn’t matter. I don’t really care if I won’t pass the test. I just want to give it a shot and try to know if I really have alpha blood in me or if I am just a nobody like what our pack thinks of me.
The first fight ended just a few minutes after they started. Then it was followed by another pair.
I couldn’t stop looking at them in awe. Everyone was just so strong and amazing. You can really tell that they have alpha blood running in their veins. Everyone was strong, but there are just some who are far stronger. And one of those stronger werewolves is Hunter. His fight ended in just a few minutes. He knocked his opponent off right after shifting to his obsidian wolf. Everyone was shocked to see how strong he was. He’s probably one of the strongest in the batch, and I will never deny it. I acknowledge his physical strength, but not his logic and reasoning.
“I hope I don’t get to fight the prince,” I heard someone from the back say. I quickly turned around and saw him looking at the prince who’s just watching the fight with blank eyes and expression.
I, too, don’t want to fight with the prince. I would never stand a chance if that happens. I doubt if I can even scratch him or at least touch him. He’s way too strong compared to any of us.
“You still have time to withdraw, Maya,” I heard Hunter whisper behind me. “You already saw what they’re capable of. You won’t stand a chance against them. You will only embarrass yourself if you still decide to push this,” he added.
I shook my head and covered my ears. “I don’t need your opinion right now, Hunter. I already made up my mind,” I told him, slightly pushing him away.
“Number fifteen!” Miss Elise’s voice echoed in my head before I stepped to the center, shoving Hunter’s hand who tried to pull me back. And as I reach the center, I look around to see who will my opponent be. But none of them moved after a few seconds. I was about to talk with Miss Elise to ask if I could draw one more number because I might have picked a number without a pair when I saw someone step forward.
Everyone looked at him with mouths forming a small ‘o’ in their faces. I even saw someone look at me with pity while shaking their head. Even I was stunned to find out who will my opponent be, and it’s none other than the ever-intimidating and regal, Prince Blake.
