"Mommy what time will you be home again?" my 6 year old son pouted as he got out from our bed, carrying his favorite plushy toy. I giggled at agad ko naman siya nilapitan "I will be home early, I promise" his pout grew even bigger
"Mommy, Saturday today. Dapat wala kang work today hindi ba? Kasi weekend" he pointed out
"Yes baby, I know. Pero mommy has to meet with my client. I am very sorry baby. Mommy wil buy you something nalang okay? What do you want?" he hugged my waist and he shook his head in negotiation "I'm good mommy. No need to buy me anything" he smiled
All these years, wala akong problema sa pagpapalaki kay Zylex, he is a bit mature compared to his age. Siguro kasi bata palang siya pero namulat na agad siya sa mundo. Daddy keeps on bringing him to business meetings and charity ball since he was 2 years old.
I could not complain naman kasi I was studying in law school during those times and I only had my parents to take care of him.
I was about to open the door when I heard someone called me, I looked back and I saw my mom. "Hi mommy. Alis ulit ako for today, si Zylex paki check nalang po" I smiled at her and she nodded
"Fiona anak, I am so proud of you" my eyes widened and I immediately hugged my mom "Thank you mommy. I am sorry again, for being a disappointment, for everything" i could feel my tears running from my eyes
"No anak. You were not and will never be a disappointment" she cupped my cheek and wiped my tears away as I nodded
I drove all the way to my law firm and as soon as I got there my employees greeted me, maliit lang ito at kung ikukumpara sa chain of hospitals na pagmamay ari ng parents ko ay walang wala ito. Pero I am still proud of myself because I was able to create a name by myself, without my parents' help.
"Hey there b***h"
Napaangat kaagad ako ng tingin and I saw Emily smirking at me, I rolled my eyes "Ano nanaman trip mo at andito ka ha?" she raised her middle finger at me kaya natawa nalang ako
"Pupunta ka mamaya?" bigla akong natigilan sa tanong niya, anniversary ng hospital namin at may party na gaganapin mamaya. Never ako dumadalo sa mga parties after nung insident na yun noong buntis ako. At mas may rason ako ngayon na hindi dumalo.
Jolo will be there, alam ko pupunta sila. And as much as possible I do not want him to see Zylex. Childish? Selfish? I do not care. I was hurt and I am still hurting. Alam ko kailangan din ng anak ko ng ama pero not now.
"Of course not. Wala akong rason para pumunta" I coldly replied
"Fio, your parents need you to attend. Matanda na sila and up until now, wala silang may ipapakilala na mag mamanage ng hospital chains nyo because you took up law. Kahit para nalang sa parents mo" Emily smiled and hugged me
I was left dumbfounded. She is right. All this years, my parents supported me to become a lawyer. Hindi nila ako pinilit na maging doctor para lang manahin ang negosyo namin. This is the least I could do for them.
I looked at my watch, 6pm. Hindi pa naman ako late. Emily kept on calling me. I had to go to a salon para mag ayos. Itong babaeng to kakalbuhin ko talaga to. She's giving me panick attacks!
"Right about time , you b***h" sinabunutan niya ako agad ko naman hinampas ang kamay niya "Mahal ang binayad ko dyan!" we both laughed
Agad ko hinanap sila mommy at daddy and I saw them with some unfamiliar faces "Hi" I smiled and kissed my parents' cheeks
"Oh is this your unica hija?" the stranger asked my father proudly introduced me to them "Oh my. You got pregnant at a very young age, and yet you had the audacity to take up law instead of helping your parents with your business. What an ungrateful child you have here Dr. Smith" the lady smirked
I saw how my mother looked down, si daddy naman pinipigilan na hindi mag salita. I felt so small, tama siya. Why did I even pursue law? Bakit ba obsessed ako sa pag gawa ng sarili kong pangalan ngayong alam ko na nagkamali ako sa parents ko?
"I believe to disagree Mrs. Santos. With everything that has happened to my daughter, my husband and I were always proud of her. Yes, hindi man siya naging doctor gaya namin, but being a lawyer is no joke. She also has her own law firm now. My child will never be a disappointment" my mom sounded strict but her words were full of love, love of a mother to her daughter.
When those strangers left, my mom went near me "Are you sure magiging okay ka dito? The Bustamante's are here" my eyes widened "M-mommy"
"We know sweety. Dati pa lang, alam na namin. We are your parents, Fiona Alyssa. Of course we would know"
"Mommy I am so sorry" I bursted out crying, she hugged me "Anak madaming tao, baka masira ang make up mo. At baka makita ka ng ex mo na panget" she winked at me
I was looking for Zylex kasi sabi ni mommy kasama daw niya ang kanyang yaya, I searched the whole hall pero hindi ko pa din siya nakikita. I tried searching the garden then I saw my son
"Mommy! I'm here mommy!"
Agad naman ako napatigil sa pag lalakad ng makita ko kung sino ang katabi niya
"Anak mo siya?"
Napako ako sa kinatatayuan ko "Tita Rose"
"Is he your child, Fiona?"
I was forcing myself to say no
"O-opo"
"Tell me hija, is he?"
I nodded my head as tears starting to fall from my eyes. Napatakip siya ng labi at agad ako niyakap
"I knew it. He is a carbon copy of his father"
"Tita please. Don't tell Jolo. Please tita"
She looked confused kaya I explained everything to her
"I'm sorry hija. Kahit ako din ay iyan ang nakikita sa inyo dati. Hindi ko lamang pinansin kasi akala ko wala lang. I understand and I respect your decision. You have been through a lot hija."
I felt my dress being pulled, I looked down and saw my son looking at me with much confusion as to why I was crying
"Zylex, say hi to lola"
"Lola? But, I already have a lola. Lola Alena" I chuckled "She" I pointed tita rose "Is your daddy's mom"
His face lit up at agad naman niya niyakap si Tita "Hi Lola! I have been waiting to meet you! My name is Zylex Ashton Smith. I am 6 years old po" I saw how Tita's smile widened
"Mom?"
Agad ako nanginig when I heard that familiar voice
"A-ah Jolo! Hijo" I saw how Tita panicked, she held my hand and smiled at me. Assuring me that she will not tell anything
"Anong ginagawa mo dito?" I could sense coldness in his voice. He looked so mature now. Agad dumapo ang tingin niya sa akin "Oh sorry. Felicia is tired already. I'll bring her home"
Tumango na lamang si Tita Rose. He was about to leave when he saw my son "Sino yan?" I literally panicked. I saw how my son was eyeing his father. Halata na parang kilala ng anak ko ang taong nakatingin sa kanya.
"Ah! Wala ano anak ng isa sa mga bisita. Nakita lang namin ni Fiona at natuwa kami sa kanya"
He nodded and turned his back at us
"Ano Tita I have to go. Baka hinahanap na ako nila mommy" I was rushing to leave when I heard his voice again, hindi ko alam baka guni guni ko lang iyon o ano
"I missed you, my love"
