Chapter 1

"Sign it." I was never that pathetic wife on your side, so why this? Why?" She cried, not befitting for someone like her who was once looked up by many professionals in her field. But that was way before she married Jeron Forster, her typical business tycoon husband. "That's the point Nathalie. You're not her, and I don't want you that way." She looked up to him. Their eyes met, and she can see honesty in his eyes which broke her even more. He just don't want her anymore? "I gave up everything for you, Jeron." Her voice cracked. "Exactly, which I never asked of you." His stone-cold words finally broke her apart. Then he left. Her greatest dream was to get married, build a family she never had, and that's exactly what she did. She nurtured the family they're starting to build, the perfect home they're preparing for their future kids which is now left in nothing but a lost dream. Now she's lost and heartbroken, but begging for more to stay with that cold man by her side will just lead her to breaking even more. The home which once filled with love and laughter and nurtured by her is now just a simple penthouse like there were no married couple that once invaded the space, it now looks empty and sad. Just as how she was lost, empty, and sad, she found herself settling in a small apartment nearby town from the City. Two days later and she's still waiting for Jeron to reach her out, waiting for him to tell her that he's sorry, and that he was just tired from work just like he usually does before. He will embrace her tight with a long face, tired, and exhausted as if recharging an energy from her just by hugging her, that he didn't meant for them to come to this point, but still, no sign of Jeron Forster. It's full of things that used to be settled and organized in their bedroom, now it looks to no value at all being inside a brown box. She found herself staring at her sketchpad when she pulled it out from the box that contains her personal things that used to be in her supposed to be study room. She smiled sadly as she tried to wipe down the dust that can't be seen if were not touched in bare hands. It was once a golden pad, sought after by many contractors to build her majestic designs, full of souls and depth, concentrating to elegance and art. But now, it looks like an ordinary pre-schooler pad. She opened it and went through pages, seeing the lines and the sketches made her cry. This is the life she gave up to become the perfect wife for the rising tycoon Jeron Forster. She was in the pinnacle of her career, sought after by many, rising on top in the interior architect field, being flew by clients from countries just to meet her and have her draw designs for their infrastructures, until she met him, married him, and left the Nathalie she once was. She cried on the floor, drown by sorrow and loneliness while hugging her once forgotten sketchpad along with her now heart broken, how badly she fell for him, is how badly she also fell from grace. She spent the night like a hopeless soul on the floor, filled with tears of regret until she fell asleep while still embracing her most valued sketchpad. She refuses to accept money from her now ex-husband, even all of her money that was joined in his bank account, she no longer wants it, and now she's left with nothing but small amount of money just enough for her to survive for a week, now minus the cost for her apartment. She needs to earn money, She was going through her irrelevant stuffs which she's considering to sell, until she came across an old enveloped that she knew she already forgotten, and it was never been opened. It was from her adoptive- mother, she gave it when she was 20 and she was already making a name for herself. Nathalie promised to her that she will not burden her anymore and will not contact her, she already cut ties with her after she let her adoptive-mother married the man who don't want an adopted-daughter like her, so did them a favor by cutting ties with them. But she admits that she misses her. It was just the man that her adoptive mother married who don't want her, pero silang dalawa ng kinalakihang Nanay niya ay maayos sila. Binuksan niya ang envelope, but when she saw a birth certificate with her name but different last name, she was stunned and left confused while deeply staring at the piece of paper with a legitimate government seal on top. It's a birth certificate, but not the last name that her adoptive mother let her have. She immediately googled the name, her mouth wide open and her eyes filled with disbelief as she stare at an article with a picture of an old man carrying the same eyes as her, the resemblance is faint but she can tell, and she feels like she know him. But no, she can't assume things, not when she's staring to a billionaire man with an article stating that he's looking for her long-lost granddaughter whom is an heiress to his endless wealth and riches. Does her longing for a real family clouds her mind and the life breaking divorce that she's going through? But as soon as she tried to close the web, a knock on the door was heard. It's late night and thinking that no other people will dare to visit her in this hour other than her ex-husband Jeron Forster, her face lit up with the brimming hope she almost gave up. It's as if from that moment, she knew, there will be no Jeron Forster in her life anymore. He will never come. Her eyes died as she confusingly stared at the man infront of her with two men on the back, they looked distinguised and professional. Were they sent by Jeron? What for? "Anong kailangan nila?" Tanong niya. "Ms. Cole, we finally found you." She stared at them. Cole, that is the surname written on the Birth Certificate she just found a while ago. Her name was then Nathalie Reyes, then it was a Forster, now she's Nathalie Cole? That is just the surname of the Billionaire old man she just saw on the web. She blinked with furrowed eyebrow, "I don't have a grandfather, if I have they're already dead. You got the wrong person." Pagtanggi niya. The man showed her a baby picture with an old man carrying the baby while smiling brightly, and coincidence maybe it is, but she's that little girl being carried on the air. She can't be wrong. "You know what? Ako man ito o hindi, I've got nothing to do with you people. Family? I don't have that, and if I have, I don't want them anymore." Of all times, why now? She's been through a lot of loneliness and difficult situation in her life, tapos ngayon lang sila magpapakita sakaniya? She don't need them.
