Chapter 16: The Locked Up

537 Words
“Is that the cheerleading club president?” I can still hear one of the aspirant asked despite the playing music on the background, which was later turned off by the operator. Perhaps, it is to focus the attention of the newly arrived club member. Not just member, but leader.   “Thank goodness you are here, Sham!” Stephanie said and walked toward her to give a light kiss on her cheek. Even the rest followed.   I literally rolled my eyes when I saw Ayesha turned around after quickly changes her disappointed look into a fake smile. Plastic! They indeed actually exist even on people as well, not just on the non-living things polypeptides polymers.   ***   Shamcey’s POV   Few minutes ago…   Damn it! Of all time possible, why now? I have to head into the try-out venue to administer the screening. Miss Natasha wouldn’t be pleased if I don not show up in important events like this.   Natasha Weinberg was the handling professor assigned to overlook the Charlie’s Angels Cheering Club.  And the thing she does not want the most was being late.   But to hell was it! I was being locked up here in the club office. I handed my things including my phone to Anne earlier because they were going to the venue first and I would still be needing to finish some club report before following. I still got roughly ten minutes before the start of the screening. Naturally, I can walk faster without holding anything.   I hastily finished the paperwork and marched toward the door to follow them. But much to my shock and dismay, the door was locked. What the hell?! This never happened before. I mean, I was never been locked up here. Why now? Why now when there is an important event I should be attending?   “Hello! Is anybody there? Kindly open the door. I was locked up, hey!” I literally shouted at the top of my lungs in desperation. I also twined it with my rolled hand into a ball knocking into the door.   The only way for this room to be unlock was from outside. As the club president, I have a spare key to open it, however, how can I humanly possible do that when I was locked up inside. In short, I need to get someone to do it for me. I can just slide the key on the small gap between the door and the floor below.   “Hello?!” I shouted again, and again, and again until the remaining time before the start of the sceening ran out. Gosh! What I shall do then? I sat on the floor and put my hand over my head.   “Come on, Shamcey, think of a way. You can’t possibly let this sort of accident hinder you in performing your duties,” I convinced myself to boost my own morale to think of a way.   ...until a brilliant idea pops in my mind.   Ugh! I know this was some sort of embarrassing, but I was left with no choice. This is do it and get out or don’t do it and stay locked up.
