I'm nervous and afraid to move from where I'm sitting because my mother-in-law was quiet and serious while scanning my face. My heart raced as she looked at me intently, as if she was trying to study my character.
"How do I address you, lady?"
I swallowed the lumps in my throat and answered her questions quickly. She nodded before asking me another question.
