12- "Daggers in my heart!"

1446 Words
After breaking my heart, Zack walked out. He went out of the veranda and walked to the shore. "Zack! Rocio Zackarius!" On the other side, I could not feel anything other than absolute pain. The whole idea of him brutally stating in front of his family that he would never like it if I became his sister was so distressing to me that I had to stop thinking about it. This anguish was so intense that I thought I could burst! As a consequence of this, the next thing I did was chase after him. “Irryn, where are you going? Irryn!” Mom called me, but I continued running after my ruthless stepbrother. “Ryn!” Ryle also called me. Nobody was able to stop me! I was so determined to talk and confront Zack! “Wait, Zack! Wait!” I didn’t care anymore if my tears were rolling down my cheeks and if he could see them! And there, he continued walking not even turning his back to look at me like he was pretending to be deaf. I increased my speed in walking so that I could reach him, and the moment I did, I held his arm which made him finally turn to me. “What seriously is your problem with me, huh? If you can accept my mom becoming a part of your family, then why can’t you accept me to be your sister, huh Zack?! Why?!” He gave me a full-body, smirk-adorned, and auratically equally dark stare as he did so. "The thought of you becoming my sister... makes me sick, and it’s fr*aking disgusting!" I squinted my eyes shut in torment. His words were daggers in my heart! He turned his back and continued walking. I was terribly hurt that he couldn’t accept me! “No matter what you do or what you say, you can’t still deny the fact that we are going to become siblings right after our parents tie the knot! Whether you like it or not, I am still going to be your sister, and I am going to treat you like my real brother like how I treat both Ryle and Rhian!” And that caused him to pause and return his gaze to me. He scanned at me, and as he did so, I felt my tears grow cold. My pulse quickened. “Right. Our parents are going to tie the knot soon. I won't be forcing you to get away from me but don't expect me to treat you like a sister because I will treat you in any way you won't like. Get ready because you may loathe me after making you taste my kind of hell, young lady..." Days had passed by. The wedding finally came, and it was held at Lamont Beach Resort. It was a semi-grand and yet simple matrimony. A Beach wedding was the theme and families and some relatives were there to celebrate with us. "Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Alanson Ciar Lamont!" We returned to Koronadal a week after that wedding, but we were carried to Uncle Alanson's mansion in Jawara Subdivision instead so, we were unable to visit our old home in Sta. Cruz. “Sis Irryn! Big sis, let’s go!” my sister Rhian knocked at my door’s room one morning. Although I never requested for one, uncle Alanson provided me my own room out of a genuine intention to make me feel at home. Every member of the family, including Rhian, has their own rooms, he stated. Anyway, this room used to be Ryle’s in his school days. He gave it to me because he is now in Gensan running their business there. He asked that the maids to clean it and relocate his belongings to another room on the ground floor so I could use this one as my own. I was first apprehensive because I assumed my big stepbrother wouldn't appreciate the idea of having his belongings removed from this room so I could occupy it, but when my uncle sought permission, he gave it right away, and he never had an issue with me taking his old room. He would at least be using the ground-floor room where his belongings are kept if he ever comes to visit. “Yes, Rhian. Coming!” I said to my sister while fixing the towel on my back. I came out of my room and just like me, she was also wearing her jogging attire. Yes, we are going on jogging today. She smiled at me. "Let's go, big sis?" I nodded excitedly. “Yeah. Let’s go.” “So, where are you both going, my girls? Let me guess, hmmm… jogging?” mom lovingly asked us while she was in the dining preparing sandwiches and breakfast. “Yes, auntie. As usual. This has become our routine since we got home here in Koronadal.” Rhian brightly responded to her. “If that’s it, then at least eat first before you go.” It was uncle Alanson who was sitting in front of the dining table while reading some newspapers. Rhian and I respectively initiated a good morning kiss to our parents and then Rhian picked a slice of bread. "This will do for now. Thanks!" “How about you, Irryn?” uncle concerned me. I smiled and shook my head. “Thanks but no thanks, uncle. Maybe later when we are back home.” Yes, Rhian and I go jogging in the mornings, but when we get home after that, we still eat breakfast, and we never dare to skip it. Aside from our parents won’t let us diet like that, we don’t really have the plan to get so thin. We do not do jogging just to be fit because we’re already fit. I am actually a skinny girl. But jog for fun. It’s our sisterly bonding. “Okay, but after you jog, you will never skip your breakfast, both of you! Okay?” uncle reminded us again. "Yes, dad! We know right? Let’s go, sis!" Rhian started to run out home, and she was dragging my hand, so I followed her. “We’ll get going, uncle! Mom!” "Take care you both! Enjoy!" We got out of the house and started jogging. It’s actually our third week back here in our hometown. Since it’s still May, it’s still vacation time. Rhian asked me one morning to jog, and it had finally become our morning routine every seven in the morning. “Wait, Rhian! Where are you going?” I asked holding her wrist when she was about to take a step on another block of the subdivision. We used to jog just sticking on our street and never stepping on other blocks. “On that block there.” She pointed me to the busy street. “Let’s go.” “But, Rhi-” “Don’t worry. I used to come and go here for years before. I memorized every block here. Trust me, we won’t get lost.” Still, I was not yet convinced though I wasn’t able to say a thing anymore when she started to walk and I had no other choice but to follow her. “Rhi, what are you going to do there?” I asked her twice when she was going to enter a fitness gym. “Getting inside. Just follow me, sis,” she responded not even minding looking at me because she was continuously walking. We got there inside. Okay, it was a two-storey class-A fitness gym. On the ground floor, some bodybuilders were dancing Zumba. “Rhi, what are we seriously doing here?” I came to question my sister as I followed her taking the stairs to reach the second floor. Given that she is a child, I am concerned that she may play here. She could be curious. The cost of joining the gym appears to be high, as does perhaps the registration fee. I was once again forced to follow Rhian. "This is our owned fitness gym. This is one of the businesses that dad has built when mom was still alive. L-Fitness Gym, L stands for Lamont—our last name," Rhian stated. The fact that they actually own this gym as one of their big businesses somewhat stunned me. Wow! I saw when I turned to look at the wall that the name of the building was L-Fitness Gym. Now, I see. This business is currently being run by Zack, my brother because he will inherit it in the near future after he finishes college. I was at a loss for words... Wait, Zack's here, too?!
