Chapter2

I sit patiently in each class as I take notes and listen to the teacher. After P.E is my English class, I walk in and head to the back of the room as I usually do. "Hello Class, My name is Mr. Holloway. I will be your new teacher for the remainder of Mrs. Perez's leave." Glancing up at the sound of the deep masculine voice I immediately regret it as I am captivated by his mysteriously sexy eyes. He scans the room until our eyes seem to meet and I quickly look down feeling a soft blush glide across my pale cheeks. "I would like to get to know you all so let's start by going around and introducing yourselves." I internally start panicking as I realize I have to speak out loud in front of everybody. "And what's your name miss?" not realizing I was being called upon I stare owlishly at my desk. "excuse me, miss?" I hear laughter start so I look up and see all eyes on me and my face goes thermonuclear red. "S-sorry" I squeak out. "It's ok, What's your name?" Mr. Holloway asks like he is talking to a scared mouse, which isn't far from the truth. "uhm- uh September" I whisper softly. "I'm sorry?" Loud laughter breaks out along with catcalling and rude names and my face feels as though it ignites in flames, I just want to cry but I can't give them anything else to tease me with. I glance up at the teacher and he looks furious as he glances at the class "HOW DARE YOU?!" he shouts. "How dare you laugh and belittle someone because of who they are?! what gives you the right?" Everyone looks at Mr. Holloway in shock as he tries to calm himself down before looking at me once more. "I'm sorry little one, could we try that one more time without any disruptions?" I nod slowly "My name is September," I say still softly but not as quiet as last time. "Such a pretty name September, thank you for being brave." He compliments before going on about the outline for the semester. I shrink back into my chair dreading even being alive. after school, I race home to get ready for tonight's dinner. Grandmother hates when I am late. I hurry up the stairs to my small dark room in the attic of the four-story house my grandparent's own. I grab my most "modest" dress specifically for these events, I say this sarcastically because my grandmother believes I need to "showcase" the goods as she puts it. Its a little black dress with a slit up the left thigh and a small sweetheart neckline with a soft pink ribbon to tie around my unnaturally curvy waist. I grab the matching black pumps and brush my hair before hurrying downstairs to greet our guest. Hearing voices floating around the house makes my skin crawl and I try not to run back upstairs to hide. Taking a deep breath I cautiously step into the dining room where my grandmother is chatting with a tall blonde man who's back is facing me. I softly hum and walk to my usual spot during these meetings. They stop talking as I sit down and I keep my head lowered to the table. I know not to look up until grandmother introduces me. "Mr. Dreke, this is my granddaughter, September." I raise my head and look at Mr. Dreke and softly smile. Mr. Dreke is very handsome with his light blonde hair and chiseled jaw but his icy glare is evil, He glares at me and asks me to stand up. After a few minutes, I hear him scoff. "You can't honestly expect me to marry this do you Greta?" he demands to look at grandmother. "Of course not Mr. Dreke, I am so sorry you had to see this. Let me just remove the pest." She stands up and rushes over to me and grabs my hair tightly. I don't even flinch as she drags me out of the room and throws me towards the stairs. "You worthless bitch, you ruin everything just by existing! How dare you ruin this marriage!" She keeps shouting insults at me as she slaps and kicks me with her heels. When she finally leaves I whimper and crawl three stories up to my small room. I throw off the heels and dress and curl into a ball on the floor unable to hold back my tears. I wish someone loved me, wanted to protect me, but I am worthless and disgusting so who would?
