The first item on the list was to get her a cell phone. Her first ever. She was excited to have something that would allow her to communicate with Thomas or Julius when she needed them.
She let Thomas pick out one for her as she had zero idea in preferences or what would be the right phone. He probably knew the best one to give her so left him to that as she looked around. All these gadgets were fascinating.
While she gazed at them, she felt the moment another vision assailed her senses pushing her out of this reality to another.
Standing in a sea of people music blared around her while others danced to the beat she felt her self being pulled around. There, standing at the bar was Erik with Alexandra and the death look in his eyes made her look towards the couple that could cause such a seething look.
Following his eyes, she spotted Thomas holding onto her, dancing with her. Smiles were on their faces, but she couldn’t stop herself from looking back at Erik to see the pure resentment he had for her.
The pain spread through her heart at the only one she loved hated her.
Not enjoying this vision, she tried to pull herself out, only to get shoved into another one and to quickly another. They began to hit rapid fire, one after the next and she started to feel panicked.
Think of one thing. Think of him.
Focusing on the Erik she remembered in her past, she let the image calm her. Taking deep breathes she continued to think of his eyes that once held love for her. The combination helped her finally pull back to reality. Thankfully, a quick peek over her shoulder she noticed Thomas hadn’t perceived anything out of the ordinary.
Good. It was less for him to worry about, but that was the second time her visions had come to her today alone and within only hours of one another. At least she was able to get out of them, but she never truly realized time between them before like now. It was alarming the amount now that she was able to pay attention to them.
Continuing to look around she thought to herself and soon enough a phone was placed in front of her eyes while Thomas stood beside her. “Here you go. I have already programmed Julius’s and my contact information in the phone for you so that should be quick for you. I set the password for you.” Showing her the password, he opened up the home screen. Pressing on the contacts he showed the few numbers he had entered. At Erik’s number she smiled sadly knowing he would not be happy with that in there.
Taking the phone in her hands she knew later she would need to delete his contact out. It would be best to not be enticed to contact him. She also didn’t want him to find out that she had it without his permission.
“Okay, now let’s go get you some clothes.” With that he put his hand at the small of her back and guided her to the little shops in the mall.
They ended up going to tons of clothing stores. One shop she particularly liked. It had more of the style she found. Deciding on different pairs of skinny jeans from black to ones with a few rips in them, to a few plain shirts that ranged in different darker colors. When it came to shoes, she decided on a few black heeled boots, a pair of athletic shoes, a pair of sandals and a pair of high heels that Thomas convinced her of.
She was able to find a place with coats and picked up a light weather one and a cute jean jacket one to wear at Thomas’s recommendation.
Feeling accomplished, she was ready to leave, but Thomas pulled her into a store that sold dresses of all designs. “We have to get you a couple of dresses. We tend to go out to the sup clubs on our nights off together.” She didn’t know what to pick out. There were so many to choose from.
After looking for several minutes, Thomas picked out a few to hand to her. “These would be perfect. See if they fit and if so, we’re getting them.” Without looking at them, she headed to the changing room and tried them on.
The one she tried on first was a small black dress that showed off her full back. Making sure the tie was secure around her neck, she opened the door to see Thomas standing there waiting for her. At her appearance a smile formed on his face. “That one will be perfect. I’ll grab a couple different ones in that size while you change and then we can leave.”
While she changed back into her clothes Thomas did what he said.
Finally, ten minutes later with all their bags in tow they headed back to his car. “Let’s go see Julius now. He wanted us to stop by after your full first day here.”
Driving, Thomas headed towards Julius’ large villa. He was exactly what you would expect a Master Vampire to own. As they made their way up the driveway, she realized just how large his yard was and the privacy he held here. There was even an inground pool.
Pulling up to the turnaround by the front door he parked and got out. Of course, Thomas swiftly moved to her side, being the gentlemen he always was, to open her door for her.
Giving him a gracious smile, she got out of the car while he shut it behind her.
Striding beside him Thomas walked right in without an ounce of hesitation. She couldn’t stop gazing around her as she followed in behind him. Changing her focus, she glanced to the foyer they strode in and noticed that Julius was sitting on the couch looking at a tablet. As they continued forward, she noticed his eyes glanced up at them. “Thomas. Evie. Thank you for coming over. I’ve been keeping an eye out for what happened overseas and surprisingly things are silent. With Elizabeth’s death there should be more chatter, but instead someone is keeping it quiet.”
Gesturing them to the couch across from him, Evie took a seat but a phone ringing stopped Thomas. A quick glimpse at his phone was all he needed. “Sorry Sire. I have to take this.” Stepping away he headed to a separate room to get privacy and to not bother their conversation.
“That means someone Elizabeth trusted is keeping her death a secret to our society.” Evie thought through the possibilities of who that person could be. There were only a handful of individuals and most were probably at the mansion that day. Someone had to of been missing.
The nod from Julius made her worry what could be coming and what she might come to see. “Yes, but we shall work through that when it is time. For now, let’s talk about something that is a far more important matter.”
The quick steps of Thomas rushing back interrupted what Julius was about to say. “Sorry Sire and Evie. I have to leave. We have an emergency that I have to help resolve. Why don’t you stay here, Evie. I’ll stop by once I’m done to pick you up if that is alright?”
“Of course, Thomas. Stay safe.” Smiling towards him she watched him rush out of the home to leave both Julius and her alone.
The deep knowing look of Julius had her a tad nervous.
Unable to sit still she felt her hands twist together. “Thank you for earlier Julius. I heard that you helped calm Erik down.”
“You’re welcome, but it was his choice. He does wish to remain out of everything and I have accepted such from him. However, it isn’t him I am worried about, it is you.” Again, those eyes seemed to see right through her. They always had.
