“Excuse me, sir,” Ezra apologized as he entered the office. At the desk Donovan sat comparing profit statements while Royce looked on over an ever-present chessboard. Without looking up from the figures in front of him he said, “What is it, Ezra?” “The files from Master Nicolas’s audit.” “Thank you,” Donovan accepted them. Since the beginning of the competition he made sure each of his sons had a professional accountant to monitor the books. It was an attempt to aid them as well as limit cheating. The accountants had been the true lifesavers as Ethan and Liam proved hopeless when it came to numbers.
