I keep fiddling with my food. I don’t really want to eat anything. The cafeteria is packed, as always. Liam and Cora are chatting normally. But my mind can’t focus on anything. I have never felt so helpless in my entire life. Only thing I can see darkness and I’m drowning in it.
“Val?” A light push from Cora brings me back to reality.
“Huh?” I gasp, looking at them blankly.
“Babe? Are you okay?” Liam asks.
“I…” I don’t know what to say. No, I’m not okay. I’m clearly not. I don’t want this. This disease of mine is a curse. What wrong have I done to receive such punishment? Why can’t I live longer like any other normal person?
