As Daniel left his first class the following day the man he had seen in the car with Kysenia was standing in the hall waiting for him outside the door. “Mister Hampshire?” “Ah, yeah…I suppose so…” Daniel had never been called Mister Hampshire before, it reminded him of his father. Well, his adoptive father… “You have free time now, I believe?” “Yeah…how do you know that? And who are you?” “Forgive me…” The attractive man with the boyish rogue smile bowed his head. “My name is Aiden, I’m Miss Skadus’s PA.” “She has a PA?” Daniel said shocked. And of course it’s another good looking man. “Indeed…I was wanting a quick word with you, if possible.” “Sure…is it about Kysenia?” “Indirectly…” Daniel laughed. “You’re warning me to stay away?” Aiden grinned, it wasn’t pleasant, it looked like a predator and he had fiercely long canines to pull it off. Daniel stopped laughing and straightened up defensively. He was taller than Aiden by a good three inches. “Not at all, Mister Hampshire…quite the opposite.” “The opposite?” “Kysenia wishes for me to talk terms with you regarding the possibility of spending more time with her. She has become quite intrigued by you it seems.” Daniel grinned cockily. “Is that right?” Aiden scowled. “You can refuse right now or please follow me.” “No, no. I’m quite intrigued too….lead the way.” . Aiden led him silently down the corridors, people staring open mouthed as they past, until they reached the student council offices. As Aiden opened the door to the meeting room Daniel was shocked at the opulence. “Jesus…is this how the other half at this school live?” Aiden chuckled and indicated for Daniel to sit. “Quite nice, yes…I have acquired these rooms for our meeting so we are not disturbed.” “Can I ask why this is all so formal? Can’t I just hang out with her a bit?” Aiden’s eyes darkened. “Not really, no.” “Okay then…I get it…she’s an important person.” “Yes, she is.” Aiden smirked to himself. “So what’s her interest in me?” “I have no idea.” Aiden said truthfully, shaking his head, as he sat down in a chair gracefully and crossed his legs. Daniel noticed then how all the men around Kysenia all seemed so well groomed and poised with an underlying level of dangerous killer. Even this one, although shorter and leaner than the minders were he still seemed to exude some kind of aura. What was with these people? “However…” Aiden continued. “Apparently you took it upon yourself to try and cheer her up.” “Ah…yeah…” Kinda starting to regret that a little now… “Now she has decided to let you try.” “What does that mean?” Daniel was so confused. “She told you that you can hug her anytime you want, right?” “Yeah…” Daniel answered dubiously. “She also wants you to be her…ah…companion.” “Companion? You make me sound like a dog?” Daniel twisted his mouth indignantly as he scowled, throwing himself back in the chair. “Quite…well, like a dog, she would like you to be by her side.” Aiden grinned facetiously. “Are you f*****g kidding me right now? Is this a prank?” Daniel growled annoyed. “Certainly not.” Aiden’s eyes darkened again, his tone dropping dangerously. “This has to be some sort of joke? This may be the way things are done in your social circles but its weirding me out. I like the girl…she’s gorgeous and obviously intelligent, but this is all far too weird for me.” Daniel said exasperated and confused. “Fair enough…I’m sorry to have wasted your time.” Aiden stood up and went to leave. “Hang on a minute…” Daniel said frowning, taking out his phone. “Can I talk to Kysenia?” Aiden frowned darkly, then smiled. “If you wish…I’m sure she would be good with it.” “Jesus, what is with you?” Daniel scowled at Aiden’s weird attitude. “Miss Skadus is an extremely important individual, her time is precious.” “Okay, I get that…but surely if she wants to spend time with me she shouldn’t send some lackey to ‘discuss terms.’ It’s weird!” Daniel was getting really annoyed now and started opening his phone to message her. “Very well, she will be between classes herself for the next fifteen minutes. Follow me.” Daniel lowered his phone. “You know where she is?” “Of course.” “And that’s not creepy at all?” “No…that’s security.” ………….. Aiden led Daniel down to an area of the grounds he had never been before, it seemed that this area was only for the elite class, the gardens were well kept and there were a few beautiful people sitting around talking, laughing and eating. He also noticed through the large windows that there was a whole other cafeteria that looked like a fancy restaurant. “Son of a b***h…” He muttered. Then he saw her. She was sitting on the grass, her long legs stretched out with her ankles crossed, her hands laced around a cup of coffee. One of her minders was lounging next to her, propped up on an elbow, lying on his side away from where Aiden and Daniel were approaching. Daniel didn’t like the familiarity between the minder and Kysenia in that moment, he seemed to be talking to her and she was smiling. Daniel set his jaw and decided to test her on her offer. He quickly walked past Aiden, who growled at him, and came up behind Kysenia, falling to his knees and wrapping his arms around her, bringing his face close to her ear. “Kysenia…you thought you could hide from my hugs in this exclusive area?” His voice was controlled, low and authoritative. He grinned to himself at his confidence. Kysenia stiffened at the touch, but then he felt her relax back into him as his words. He was surprised and felt a sudden jolt of desire to kiss her. Kysenia leaned her head back on his shoulder and chuckled. “Not at all, Daniel…I would never hide from you.” She reached up over her shoulder as she said it and stroked his cheek lightly with the tips of her fingers. He was surprised by her answer and saw her minder sit up, scowling darkly at him. He grinned as Aiden caught up. Kysenia looked up at Aiden and something vast seemed to pass between them. Aiden looked at Daniel and met his eyes with a mix of confusion and awe. Aiden was wondering why Kysenia had clearly not felt Daniel’s presence approach, that was weird for a human to be able to do that. “Master, Mister Hampshire wanted a word with you.” Aiden explained. “Of course, Aiden…thank you.” Daniel didn’t want to let her go, so he settled sideways off his knees and pulled her into his chest. She felt so good close to him, his arms around her tiny waist. He was again aware of everyone staring at him. Aiden bowed his head and looked disdainfully down at the minder. “Talon, get up!” Aiden instructed. Talon…what a weird name Daniel thought as Talon clambered up and brushed himself off. “We will be nearby, Master.” Aiden said causing Talon to stare at Daniel for a moment like he was lunch, then go off in a huff. “I don’t think he likes me very much.” Daniel said as he rested his cheek on Kysenia’s head. God, she feels so good in my arms…and her smell…that perfume is divine. “Don’t worry about Talon, he takes his job seriously.” Kysenia reached up a hand and cupped the side of his face again. “Aiden spoke to you? You have concerns?” Daniel frowned. “I don’t have concerns so much as…I like this and I want to spend more time with you and get to know you…but…” Kysenia sat forward and turned to face him, tucking her legs up and pulling on her black pencil skirt to keep her modesty. “But?” She asked looking at him with great interest, her eyes sparkled and wandered all over his face. He looked at her face this close and had to fight the temptation to kiss her, the air between them was electric. “I don’t get what you’re actually asking for…a companion?” Kysenia frowned slightly and Daniel didn’t like it touching her flawless face. “I’m sorry…Aiden hasn’t done a very good job of explaining things.” “Ah…no…all he did was weird me out to be honest.” Daniel laughed awkwardly. Kysenia put her coffee cup down on the grass and stood up. “I apologise…let me make things up to you…” Daniel stretched his legs out and leaned back on his hands, looking up at her. He grinned at the turn of events. “Okay…” He said tipping his head to the side and squinting up at her with a cheeky grin. Kysenia smiled down at him appraisingly. “You’re more confident than you were…” She noted. Daniel blushed and looked away with a sudden cough. Kysenia laughed. “No…there it is.” “There’s what?” Daniel looked back sourly. “That adorable blush you have.” Kysenia chuckled. “Adorable blush!” Daniel looked mortified and stood up, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Are you just playing with me or what?” Kysenia’s eyes went wide with surprise making Daniel regret his last sentence. “No, I never play.” Kysenia’s face went serious and her voice cold. “I’ll pick you up after your practice today…” “Sure…” Daniel said rubbing the back of his neck. “Excellent…I look forward to it…” Kysenia stroked a finger down his jaw line as she practically purred the words out. Daniel blushed again and knew he had when he saw Kysenia’s eyes light up and she smirked at him. He scowled darkly at her as she laughed and walked away. ‘Damn it!’ He muttered to himself under his breath. He still had no idea if this was all just a joke or not. He glanced down to where Kysenia’s coffee cup was sitting, he bent and picked it up. “Litter bug.” He muttered and walked off to deposit it in a trash can. . . As practise finished Daniel was standing next to the bench seat with the team when one of them jabbed him in the ribs. “Hey, your girlfriend is here.” “What?” Daniel looked up to see Kysenia was sitting in the stands, one of her minders, Talon, standing a couple of yards away with his hands in his pockets and dark sunglasses on. Daniel smiled as the guys ribbed him. “I’ll be right back…” Daniel sprinted up the stands to where Kysenia watched him intently, smiling amused at his rapid approach. “Hey there.” He said as he got close and kneeled on the seat in the row in front of her and leaned over it. “Hello.” Kysenia said in reply. “I would hug you, but I need a shower…” Daniel said flicking wet strands of his hair back that had come loose from the manbun he had it tied back in. “Shower at my place.” Kysenia said quietly in a breathy tone as she gave him an intense gaze. “What! No…I can’t do that…” Daniel laughed, blushed and looked away when he noticed Kysenia’s eyes darken. “I’ll just have a quick shower and change here in the locker room, I won’t be long.” “Alright then…the car is out the front of the main building, I shall be there.” Kysenia stood up and went to walk away. She had to get far away from his intoxicating aroma before she lost control of herself. Daniel frowned at her dismissive attitude. “Did I just do something wrong?” God, what a girly thing to say! Talon snorted and looked away with a smirk as Kysenia turned and regarded him amused, she flashed a dark scowl at Talon, then looked back. “No, Daniel, you did nothing wrong…” Kysenia was finding it hard to concentrate with his heavenly scent filling the air around her. “I just don’t want to go with you all sweaty and smelling, you know, plus I’m in my football gear.” “It’s fine, Daniel…your scent is…enchanting, I don’t care if you shower or not, but I understand…go…” “Wait...what? Enchanting? What the hell does that mean?” Daniel asked confused but Kysenia didn’t turn around and kept walking. He made his way back to the team and they all went to the showers. ……………. “What did she say? It looked intense…” Matt asked. “It was weird…it always is…like she doesn’t think normal…she says things that are strange.” “Like what?” “Well, just now she basically said she didn’t care if I shower or not because my scent was ‘enchanting’…” “She said that!? My god, that’s so hot!” Matt said fidgeting. “You think so?” “Yeah man…she’s saying she likes you hot and sweaty…oh man, I didn’t peg her for the dirty type.” “f**k up…I’m sure that’s not what she meant.” “How else could she have meant it? She said your scent…” Daniel sat on the bench in front of his locker and raked his hands through his hair, pulling the elastic from it. “God, she is so confusing.” “I warned you…she plays with people’s minds.” Daniel frowned. “Yeah, I can never shake the feeling that this is some big prank.” Matt looked at him strangely. “Just be careful…she’s a dangerous person and we don’t need our best striker to go mysteriously missing before our first game.” ……………… As they walked together round the building Matt frowned when he saw the car waiting for Daniel with the well-muscled minder with the long black hair leaning on the side of it talking with the driver, who was standing with his hands in his pockets. “Why are they all so good looking?” Matt mused. “What?” Daniel asked surprised. “All those body guards…they’re the best damn looking body guards I’ve ever seen.” Daniel frowned. “Yeah, I know…another thing that’s weird.” There were other bodyguards around the college, but none looked like Kysenia’s did. There always seemed to be a small grouping of girls not too far away from them, like groupies…what bodyguards ever attracted groupies?! “Oh, don’t worry, Danny…you’re just as handsome, more so…” Matt jumped on his back and put him in a playful choke hold as Daniel struggled to get out of it, laughing. Matt floundered on Daniel’s back, his feet dangling in the air, Matt was only 5’9” so there was quite a height difference. The noise alerted the men waiting and Talon stood up as the driver went and opened the back door of the car, both were looking at Daniel expectantly. “Oh crap…you better either go now or run quickly in the opposite direction.” Matt laughed dropping to his feet, he picked his gear bag up from where he had dropped it to jump Daniel. “I’ll catch up tomorrow…don’t do anything I wouldn’t do…” “Which isn’t much I’m figuring out…” Daniel laughed and waved out as Matt turned the opposite way heading off towards the dorms. Daniel picked his bag up and slung it over his shoulder and walked up to the car. The driver took his bag for him as he climbed in. He saw Kysenia was on the phone talking like it was a serious conversation. He sat next to her and smiled as she watched him intently, her eyes seemed to sparkle in the gloom of the car’s interior. The driver shut the door and Talon got in the front seat with the driver. Kysenia quickly ended the call with an abrupt. “Got to go, get it sorted!” and turned her focus to him as the car pulled away. “Daniel, you do smell divine…you’re right, showering was a good idea.” Daniel was taken back by the statement. “You say the weirdest things.” “Do I?” Kysenia seemed amused by that. He couldn’t stop staring at her eyes. “Well, I guess I’m a bit different to most people.” “You’re not wrong there.” Daniel muttered. “So when do you actually play?” “Play? Oh, you mean football games?” Kysenia smiled and nodded faintly. “We have a game up Saturday week. First of the season, then it will be every Saturday.”  “So you transferred here to play?” “Well….yeah I guess…they offered me a scholarship so who could say no to that? This school is amazing…although I had no idea how amazing till I saw that area today…” Daniel muttered. Kysenia laughed. “Yes there is an Elitist section, but with me you can go there anytime you want.” “With you?” Kysenia smiled, but said nothing. “I’m really not sure what you want from me…Aiden said…” “Shush…we don’t need to discuss that now…” Kysenia looked to the front of the car. Daniel understood and nodded. “Okay…so where are we going?” “Back to my place.” Daniel swallowed hard. “Seriously?” “Is there something wrong with that?” Kysenia’s eyes darkened and she frowned. “No…I …ah…it’s surprising is all.” “Really? Why is that?” “Well, girls don’t usually take guys home on the first date.” Daniel laughed awkwardly and blushed. Kysenia chuckled delighted. “Is this a date?” Daniel glanced at her. “I have no idea what this is.” “Hmm.” Kysenia half laughed. “Let me put your mind at ease…I’m not going to have you killed.” Daniel smirked. “Good to hear it.” “Look, you went out of your way towards me, it surprised me, no one has ever done that before…” “You don’t have to feel obligated…it was a hug…and frankly I like hugging you.” Daniel said, then clamped his mouth shut as he felt his cheeks heat up. Damn it! Kysenia laughed. “Oh Daniel…you are so cute…” Daniel’s eyes came up with a fire in them that took Kysenia’s breath away, they almost glowed golden. “Cute!?” “There’s nothing wrong with an extremely handsome, athletic, muscular man having a cute side to him.” Daniel stared at her as he digested her words. “Wait…you think I’m handsome?” Daniel couldn’t help but grin boyishly. Kysenia looked confused. “Of course, do you think you would be in this car if you weren’t?” “Ah…oh…okay…” Daniel didn’t know what to say. Must be part of the criteria… “So you’re a freshman…does that mean you’re eighteen?” “Ah, no actually…I took a skip year and worked so I’m nineteen, I had to help my parents they were a little stuck financially…that’s why I can’t lose this scholarship.” “Oh…” Kysenia’s eyes sparkled at the news. “So, yeah…there’s only two years difference between us, huh?” Daniel said. Kysenia grinned but said nothing. “So how many years have you got left of study?” Daniel asked. “Two, then four more for my doctorate.” “Cool, so we’ll graduate at the same time.” “What’s your…?” “Sports medicine.” Daniel said with a smile. “But I’m doing digital art of the side.” “Interesting…” Kysenia said with a smile. “I think so.” Daniel grinned back. “I do too…it must be fascinating learning about the human body.” Daniel heard Talon huff in the front seat. “Yeah it is…probably not as fascinating as the human mind…” “Hmm.” Kysenia looked out the window with a whimsical smile. …………….
