22. Unleash human version of packman into the school

1146 Words
I felt the sweat dripped down the hollow of my spine, the cold one, when I ran down the empty corridors of the school. Where the hell had everyone disappeared? Did Orwell and Amanzi unleash human version of packman into the school or something? I could feel the light footsteps following after me not that I gave a crap about it as I continued to move forward. That was when I could hear it. It was coming out of the speakers established in the school for the announcements to be made. The familiar humming that had started to make me feel calm and relaxed. Sort of detached from the reality. Oh no... Not this again... I groaned trying to resist the urge to give in. Amanzi's numbing gift... My jaws clenched and unclenched at the effort to stay focused amidst my struggle to reach the source of this issue. The frustration in me came out in the form of energy waves that whooshed around like legs of octopus in the sea. Surprisingly, that did reduce the impact of the humming on me. But that was not all... Wherever the energy waves collided with the physical objects, they left behind a burnt mark, like it wasn't energy waves that had touched it but lava. The lockers, the floor tiles and even the ceiling was stained black with burnt marks. I paused for a second to look over my shoulder to watch the reaction of the ones following me. As sane as it sounded, they had halted a few feet away from me, or rather from the reach of the tentacles of my energy form, as they stared at me with wide eyes. A part of me wanted to laugh at their faces but the rational part of me reminded me of how important it was to rush to the broadcast room, where this humming was coming from, just to put an end to it. As I got nearer to the destination, I found Orwell carrying an unconscious uncle Ted who was more of smiling as if he was listening to his favorite music. Orwell had lifted him up like he was a mannequin instead of a person, to take him to where only god knows! "What are you doing with my uncle?!" my panicked outburst caused the unsuspecting Orwell to drop my uncle as he jumped in his place. Ouch! That would have hurt pretty bad had he been conscious... I couldn't help but shut my eyes at the impact that he would have felt. My accident alarm had been tingling on the side that I had ignored. "Whale's hair! You startled me!" he grumbled as he turned to look at me only to halt looking at my energy tentacles perhaps? "What happened to your eyes?" Was what he voiced as soon as he saw me with a dumbfounded expression. "My eyes?" I frowned as I pulled out my phone only for it to catch fire once it was out into my energy waves. I dropped the burning item faster than a blink of an eye. Were my energy waves so hot that things were catching fire? I looked down to find some small holes in my clothes that usually occurred due to fire crackles when kept too close. One of the energy tentacles had hit the water dispenser making a s***h in the water storage, and water poured out to gather around my feet, and soaking half of Uncle Ted into it. Orwell stepped away from the water and watched me carefully while being on his defense. The white floor of the corridor had now turned into partial mirror. Though I was not able to see every detail of my face, the burning blue eyes with burning yellow dots were as clear as crystal. I sure did not look like human anymore, and that scared me. Shivers went down my spine at the realization of what I had always been that I had never known... My eyes shifted back to Uncle Ted who was still laying on the soaked floor with a satisfied smile, Amanzi's humming still came out of the speakers, and the realization of whatever was happening was due to me, making it partly my fault too, it snapped me out of my trance, a hole in which had I fallen would have taken me into endless darkness that my sixth sense was warning me about. I continued to move further, now only a door separated me from the stopping this circus that was going on. Even before I could open the door, another hand beat me to it. Surprised I looked up to find Vann standing right there, so close to me that some of the energy waves slid over his flawless skin leaving some burns that healed as quickly as they were formed but he didn't even flinch at the pain or the impact. My heart broke at the sight making my energy to soften. The tentacles did not leave any mark on his skin anymore, they more like caressed it tenderly. If I didn't know better, I would have even said lovingly, like the energy felt the feelings that I had for Vann. Vann's expression also softened at the change as he opened the door and helped me to not end up destroying everything in the room like how I had in the corridor. Our energies synchronized in harmony as my energy tentacles tamed down considerably and reduced down to just a thin layer of aura around me. Amanzi was still humming as he looked at us. There were complicated emotions flashing in his eyes before he masked it up with poker face as he turned towards us. "You can stop now Amanzi, the entire school is going to be in a chaos as soon as you stop," I said in a calm voice only making him to tilt his head to the side. "Amanzi stop right now and get back home. River is waiting for you," Vann's words made his humming go off-tune for a second before he exhaled as he finally stopped humming. I closed my eyes and sighed in relief too that this was over but I guess I celebrated it a little too early as I felt Amanzi who was supposed to go out stopped by my side as he spoke in a low voice, "I don't know what it is about you, but you make me want to know more and more about you." I whipped my head to look at him with eyes wide open as he added with amused eyes, "I don't really care about the others and your relationship with them, but I can assure you that I sure am interested in you in a way no other siren might be in you and won't stop till you feel the same about me."
